A Cool Blue Cat!

I caught this little guy while my dad and I were fishing for walleye this week. I was casting a Gulp minnow on a jighead along a dropoff from a flat. I wasn't sure what he was when I first saw him. I've caught one true albino cat before but it was a channel and it was completely white instead of white and black splotched.

It is piebald or pied, that is the name of the coloring. Learned if from reptiles, most commonly ball pythons, but it also is common in dogs as well. It is when a regular pattern or color is broken with pure white. Pretty neat, if you google piebald catfish you find a few others as well as a few articles.

That's a really nice looking fish there.

Cool fish.  I had a pie bald bulldog before too.  I haven't seen it in a fish other than pictures though.

That is one awesome looking fish. Looks big enough to be decently high in the food chain so it has a chance to become pretty big. Its a miracle he escaped being a snack as a baby with that coloration
