Legend Tournament Guide Size?

Featured Replies

  • Super User

Does anybody know the size of Fuji new concept tangle free guides used on the new legend tournaments? No idea how this happened but I had a guide just pop out of the epoxy. No breakage or cracks it just slipped out of the finish. I don't know where the guide is or I would replace it myself. I e-mailed st. croix explaining to them the issue and I only need one guide ( the 9th one down from the tip including the tip) and I got this lame automated message about sending the rod in for repair is more expensive than having the guide replaced locally etc etc. I was pretty clear that I only needed one single guide and I can do it myself. I think the guides themselves are around 3$ or less each? I know they are "micro" but not quite micro so I think maybe size 5.5 but leaning towards 6? This guide is literally in the middle of the blank so it's a bit awkward with how the line touches the blank with pressure.

Call croix back and ask to speak with customer service. Give them the model & serial number of your rod & tell them what guide you need. Offer to purchase it so you can have a local builder replace the old one. Then decide if you want to tackle it or have a pro do it.

There is a good chance they will just send it to n/c.

That's what I was thinking as well. I e-mailed the customer service originally with what you stated and got some copy and pasted response where it didn't even look like theyread it. his response hardly even pertained to what I was asking. I sent another e-mail so I will see how it goes. if that doesn't work i'll  just try dan or harry at st. croix and see what they say. with what I've been gathering these guides cost less than 3$ a piece anyway and it's a very simple fix.

To clarify which guide you are requesting start the count from the reel seat end of the rod; guide 1 is the first guide. Most rods with micro guides will have the first 2 or 3 guides larger sizes, then the guides are the same size up to the tip. Are you saying the guide foot slipped out from under the wrap? If that happened it may not be as easy as glueing in a replacement, sometimes the guide foot will not slide into the original opening.

Good luck!

If it is a Fuji guide some have the size stamped on the edge of the guides frame as it tapers to the ring.

Most likely a #6 single foot..... :Victory:

Sorry it would be the 4th guide then. The first two differ in size and the rest of the 9 guides are all the same ( i think) the entire guide along with the guide foot just slipping out. I'm not sure if it's loose thread or what but the epoxy isn't cracked anywhere and by the looks of it it seems the threads are still intact as well.

They are fuji k concept tangle frees if that is any help. I don't see the size stamped anywhere. They are very small guides. I was also thinking a size 6.

Forget the email, call it in. I've had a problem with a guide once and called, went from the operator telling me I'd get a call back about what I needed, in about an hour I got my call back.
