New look Spinnerbait

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd let some of my fellow bass fisherman in on a killer I stumbled on.  I was fishing one windy day and a huge gust took a long cast and threw it into the rocks on the d**n.  As I jerked my bait out of the rocks it came flying at me like a bullet thankfully I was able to get out of the way and it pounded a sharp edged rock beside me.  When it hit the rock it put a slight ding in the blade.  Now when you retrieve it the bait looks like it has another eye swimming above it.  I continued to throw that bait and I've killed them on it ever since.  Since then I've taken a small chisel and kinda popped lil dents in the bigger willow leaf blades on my baits and man it's hot!  Give this a try I'm sure it will work for you too.   8-)

I wonder if that's how terminator got the idea for the Hybrid

Nope looks nothing like that.  I"m sure it probably is comparable when it is in the water though.  The biggest difference is the baits I've made have smooth blades except where I have placed the dent.  And the biggest difference of them all, mine only cost me a buck at Academy or Wal-Mart that thing looks espensive.  Looks like a great bait but if you can get the same results and save some cash, I figure why not.

I think the idea came from the tornado spinnerbait that BPS use to sell (they may still have them). It was the worst spinnerbait I ever used hands down! That bait took two pairs of channel lock pliers to tune because the wire was so thick and half the time the blade would not turn.

Unfortunately I don't have a web cam so I can't post a pic of the blade.  But you can create your own.  All you have to do is take a normal willow leaf blade curve side up, take a nail put it it the middle of the blade (widthwise) more towards the top of the blade (lengthwise) and hit it with a hammer just enough to make a small endentation.  When you run the bait you'll see what I mean.  Looks neat and works like a charm.  8-)
