Any specific rod you guys would recommend for Bluegill?

i use a 5'6" Light ugly stik lite-pro rod for bluegill, paired with a pflueger trion gx-7. its great for panfish and ive caught bass and catfish up to 4lbs on it. it has blue markings on the rod instead of the typical red and yellow, and i believe its sold only at walmart...

Yeah, an ultralight rod is waht I would recommend.  5'6" - 6' long should do the trick nicely.

I use an 8 foot Phenix ultra light (2-6lb) trout rod, with a shimano sedona 500 size spooled with 4 lb invisx. I didnt buy it for bluegill, but its a kick in the pants to catch nice bream on 1/32oz jig heads and 1" grubs! Ive caught many decent bass on the same rig. I bouhgt my wife a $20 American Premier 8' ultra light (2-6 lb) rod and a $25 shimano sienna 500 size, and it fishes pretty well also. She loves catching bluegill on 1" silver flake spider jigs with a pink jig head.

I use a 5'6" ultralight rod and 4# line. Any UL rod with light line should provide lots of fun with these scrappy fish.

I use a 6' bass pro micro lite glass ($20) and a daiwa d-spin 500 ($15). Works great for the light use it sees.

If I were going for bluegill I'd use a UL or L, probably in the 5' - 6' range.

I have a 5' and a 6' Ultra Light's, and both are St. Croix Avid's, I use the 5' most of the time.

I don't fish for bluegill but I do fish for mayans and peacocks.  I use a Hurricane redbone 6'6 light action with 25 supreme reel, with a crappie jig or Mepps inline spinner.

Another vote for the BPS Micro Series of rods. Best bang for your buck out there.

Currently using a custom Avid (SC3) 7'6" ML/XF w/BPS MLE25F mounted....

My old one is a 6' Berkley Lightning/430SS Penn/4# Trilene XL.

New rod is a 7'2" Fenwick River Runner/Dawia 1500CU/10# 832.

 

First rod is a good all around rod able to handle fish much bigger than a panfish.  The Fenwick is rated 4-8# and 1/32-5/16 oz.  No idea what size fish it can handle.  Only been out once with it, and got skunked at a local creek.

I have the 6'8" river runner and caught my Pb. don't have a scale but I would guess 5-6lb largemouth and a 4-5lb peacock. Definitely has a bit of backbone in there. Excellent rods for their price.

My first rod was a cane pole.  Had the advantage of longer length over you! 

I have a 5' St Croix Premier UL with a Pflueger President. I really love it. Feels so weird switching from a 7'4" baitcast setup to this little dinky rod sometimes. Rod has great sensitivity. Sure is fun getting a bigger fish on the line with it.

yeap I use the BPS brand UL 6 foot spinning rod and reel too.

I use a rod by the company "ESP". 6'6 UL i primarily use it wading streams for trout but it is a great panfish rod as well. Has a Tennessee grip as well. i use a sahara 1000 and 4# stren magnathin.
