Ms Slammer

Featured Replies

I am going back to michigan from sept 14- Oct 27 and i am picking up some things off tackle warehouse. I was wondering what color slammers work best for you northern guys. I wanted to try and catch some monsters on swim baits. I know to match the hatch but was just wondering if certain colors seem to work better than others. The water ill be fishing is clarity to about 6-7 ft maybe more at times. Tons of docks, weeds, laydowns, weedbeds out deep. Main forage is bluegill, perch and sunfish.Thanks.

Personally, I like Light Rainbow, and Baby Bass.  Friend of mine "Bluebasser86" has a Hitch one he loves.

I know a guy in RI that tosses a Perch one.

Michigan fishing= perch color at all times IMO

Throw a dark trout.

I've caught fish from Rhode Island down to Alabama on it.

Unless you are cranking it down, they only really see the bottom and A LITTLE of the sides.

I'm planning on picking up a Slammer also. Do you guys prefer the 7" or the 9"? I have tackle to handle both sizes.

9" for me. Moves a lot more water I think.

9", single joint.

I do have the Hitch color Slammer in the 7" single joint. It's amazing how small of fish will try to smack that thing. Never have thrown the 9" but they certainly love the 7". Our bass average pretty small so that's why I went with the 7".

what liar told yall slammers work anyways? :fishing-026:

I'm sure it's one of those baits where if I like it, I will end up buying a couple of them.  I might start with the 7" to build some confidence in it and then get the 9".

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, thanks for the advice fellas.

I have way more confidence in that big bait than I thought I'd have. Like I said, it doesn't take much of a fish to eat one.

Dont be scared of the 9", it fishes like a much smaller bait.

IMO, the 7" is too small. It behaves so much differently than the bigger slammer. I'd actually consider it a finesse swimbait.

I recently got the 7" double jointed slammer and I don't like it at all.
