Could You... One Rod/reel?

im almost the same...most of my fishing has been with a 7'6  8/17 with a 2500 reel(bass, snook, redfish, trout, jacks, etc) for the last couple months at least...i even throw a little bit heavier stuff than i should with it but it works fine

I own that set up too, I prefer the 7 footer for bass fishing.  Every inshore combo I own the rod lure max limit is constantly exceeded, nothing too unusual here.  I could easily get by with 1 inshore outfit too, 7'6 mh 10/20 rod, 4000 reel and 20# braid, been throwing 1.5 oz spoons and jigs for the last 10 years on it, throw 1/4 oz just as easy.

I could with a 6 1/2 foot MH. The question is why would you if you could get away with more than one?

Right now when I go out I usually take four with me.  I could fish with one rig all season, but would I enjoy it?

Lately ive been going out in the kayak or the banks with my 6'8 mh cumara and 1000 ci4+. Rod is rated 3/16-5/8 so it covers everything i throw from dropshot to frogs.

Tip is soft enough to throw a flickshake or dropshot, and theres enough backbone for a frog/jig.

Forgot add; if I had to do it, I would take my 7' M-F LTB with JDM Zillion.

It can be done. However, it would be like golfing with only a 7 iron. Even if you went with what most would consider the most versatile rod, a 7' MH/F with a 6.X:1 gear ratio reel you would have trouble casting the really light finesse stuff with consistency, distance and accuracy. Also, if you went fishing in the slop you may find yourself underpowered. Also, I prefer different length rods for different purposes. For deep dropshotting I prefer to use a 7'2'' rod, for the shallower stuff, I prefer my 6'10'' rod.

Same goes for many other gear. I got some great advice when I first started acquiring gear and that was to never sell anything you have, because someday you will find a use for it. Now I haven't been in the game long enough where my equipment is severely outdated, but I came close to selling a couple rods/reels that are staples in my system that I am constantly building upon.

To touch on the second part of the question, that revolves around if you could only have 1. I would choose my NRX 893c with a Curado 50e tuned and upgraded. In a pinch I can get this rod to do quite a bit and I am very familiar with it.

I could probably pull it off. Just need my dx744 and shimano core 51 and that could cover almost all my techniques

I pretty much fish with just one rod/reel all season. Actually I use 3 or 4 but they're all ml/xf, so yes, I could just use one.

Could you, Yes.

My one combo would be Champion 734 and 6.3:1 Zillion.  However, I would need at least a spare spool for braid or Fluoro.

of COURSE,,, but the more important question would be WHY,,, on God's green earth would I want to???? My biggest problem would be going to the man cave and sorting thru all those St. Croixs,,,,, and picking a favorite!!!  :Idontknow: Or Lew's or Shimano???
