Spike-It Dye?

Featured Replies

Is it any good? Are there better options for the same price?

Spike it does the job but JJ's magic is amazing you have to be a little more cautious with it if you are starting I recommend spike it once u get used to it step up and you will see a difference

i prefer the spike it markers. not as easy as dipping the claws in a jar but it's cleaner and you can get a little more "artistic" with them.

I was thinking of using spike it to tint the bottom of spinner bait skirts to a orange and blue color like bluegills. I've used it before on worm and grub tails in chartreuse.

I use it all the time on my soft plastics.  I've tried it on spinnerbait skirts and it doesn't work as well as a Sharpie, but it does add scent.  I go through a couple of bottles a season.  I've also used the markers, but dipping gets the job of changing colors done a lot better, just more messy.

Love the spike it markers. Was fishing finesse swimbaits the other day and they were nipping the bait. I colored the tail with some chartreuse and BAM the fish started taking it aggressively.

how long does the marker last after applying?

I use the Markers also - Big Fan.

Color is semi-permanent.  It fades a bit after say an hour or so.

They come with a garlic scent but I'm only using them for the color and use Pro-cure for the scent.

And in case you're wondering, you really have to work at it to "Spill" the marker . . . . .

I made a "clown" colored super fluke with the markers. A month later it was back to white (no sign of dye).

No they don't dry out. I've had caps knocked off and exposed for hours even washed one. No issues.

nice pig!

Only problem I've had with the markers is the caps coming off in my pockets when shore fishing, ruins a pair of pants pretty good when there is a big smelly yellow stain lol

I've tried spike it and JJs and would ave to say JJs is superior. Anybody got that video comparing the two?

Just use a Q-tip with JJ's if you want to get "artistic."

perhaps buying a perch colored fluke might be a tad easier? with those 4 bottles of JJs open next to him, he must be immune to the fumes.

I use the chartreuse, garlic bottle to dip the tails if worms. The stuff works great, just reapply every 30 min or so. 1 bottle will last most "normal" fishermen a season. Me, I go through 2.

I was looking for green pumpkin with chart tail brush hog. The guy at the local store said I can die with yellow Spike-It. He was wrong. The color didn't change much. I suspect the guy didn't know what he was talking about and all die basically needed to be used on light color plastic, am I correct on this?

Anyhow, I bought Big Bite Bate's Bush Pig in Green Pump/Chart color after this.
