Do you know can or should I grease the carbon drag washers on a Revo Stx gen 3?

Yes, smoother overall, smoother startup, little less total drag pressure but the revos have plenty to spare.

I prefer Cals drag grease.

How about simple Berkley grease or Ardent?I used the Berkley on an old Daiwa I have It seems to work, I was concerned I might ruin the felt like carbon washers in the Revo Stx gen3.

If your drag is not working smoothly, change the drag disk, upgrade to Carbontex or similar drag.

Its smooth in the lower end but sketchy when its in the upper end or tighter.Just wanted to see if it was safe to grease the carbon washers.

If you grease a drag, use ONLY actual drag grease. The ones contaminated with regular grease should be replaced. As for the original question, carbon drags can be greased, but don't need to be like on a salt water reel where fish make long runs and heat dissipation is a concern. Greasing the drag may make them a little smoother but personally I run them dry.

Should be a teflon based grease. Cals is a great grease for this.

Your not gonna ruin your drag washer's if their carbon material (think Revo's are). They will become

sticky with regular non teflon based grease.

Greasing drags will ruin them, keep them dry and clean, then you don't need to know what material or type of lubricant. Drag disks are not expensive, bad drags can ruin your day.

Applying the proper grease to carbontex drag washers most certainly does not ruin them, in fact it is recommended. We are not talking about felt washers here, although I have also applied Teflon based grease to these as well with no ill experience.

I appreciate the info I need all I can get ,sometimes I get stripers when bass fishing, one I caught was 27 pounds on 12 pound test I had just respooled onto a Abu c3 lite and the drag just happened to work perfectly.(no grease)but I notice some drags are stickier than others and my Revo Stx gen3 is a little sticky on the upper end.

Drag grease is different from regular grease and drags will stay smooth much longer if you use it instead of other types of grease.  Cal's, Shimano ACE-2 Drag Grease, Penn Muscle Grease are all good drag greases.  I use the Shimano, which is a thick, sticky cosmoline based drag grease.  To clean the drag disks, whatever type, soak them in some naphtha and then apply the grease sparingly.  When I used regular Teflon based grease (which I otherwise love on other reel parts) on fiber drag washers, it would last about 2 months before the drag became jerky.  With the dedicated drag grease, I can last a whole year or until I do a complete tear-down, cleaning, and re-lube.

No he meant X2,,,,,I mean X3,,,,,, but I do grease mine and recamend it,,,,,,,,only use Cal's or Shimano DRAG GREASE!!!    

 

I have never noticed a loss in drag pressure, but I have never had to lock one down anyway when I properly apply pressure to the drag using my rod, even the lighter drags on Shimano baitcasters are plenty.

Unless I am using light line, I do not grease my carbontex drags. 

Thanks for your input.I will just leave the drag washers alone until I get the grease you have suggested.
