Mike Shaw's Ms Mini Slammer

Featured Replies

Who has used Mike Shaw's MS Mini Slammer wakebait and what do you think about it?  Worth the money?  Favorite color and use?  Any feedback would be helpful.  Thanks!

Black beauty around cover especially at dawn an dusk on laydowns I've caught 1lb dinks all the way up to a few 5lbers i fishit as a rat and throw it around pads stickups and grass lines near shore

They are horrid... send yours to me. ;)

I have had 2 Minis. Baby Bass and Black Beauty. I currently have 7" Slammer in Light Rainbow.

Great baits. Wake it, twitch it, walk it, or just let it sit. Cover break lines, over weed beds, around wood. Great bait

Great night bait.

I keep reading it is a great bait for night.  I don't do much night fishing.  Sometimes in the early morning or early evening but not really at night.  Any success during the day?

All day. Either fish it very fast or very slow with long pauses when it's daytime. Good when it's choppy too.

Don't want to hijack the thread at all, but I'm in the same situation where I really don't do any night fishing. Do you guys still use the black version during the day, or would you choose a lighter pattern?

This is exactly what I was wondering.  Thanks.

Black works 24/7 as long as you're throwing it where the fish are you'll get bit

I am not a fan of the mini, too small. The 7" and 9" both get blasted though. You cant beat a slammer

The Mini serves a purpose as a rat looking bait, KINDA.

The 7" is most definitely too small for my liking. The 9" Slammer is where it's at.

How small is the mini? The 7" isn't te mini?

  • Super User

The mini has the worm for a tail and no joint.

The 7" has a single joint and a fish tail.

My Mini Slammer is jointed?  It's a little over 4" long, but with the worm tail, over 9", though I wouldn't classify it as a "big bait" at all.

  • Super User

My mistake, I forgot it does have a joint but only the front hook.

Yes, a single hook that SHOULD be changed before throwing this bait.  I actually prefer this as a 2nd bait, that I dead stick while fishing something else. It's especially good when you are slowly moving along an area.

What type and size hook do you replace it with? For the money I had hoped that the stock hook would suffice. I haven't taken mine out of the package yet.

I don't know, I just put an Owner ST-41 that was close in size on mine. 1/0, maybe?
