Hi everybody, I'm new to deep cranks. I've just started using the Bandit Ledge 250 cb and like them but a lot of people talk about the DD22 CB. So I want to try them out but only have room in my "Deep Crank Box" for 4 more cranks. I fish in stained water and there really isn't any cover, just some rocks on the bottom. I fish from the bank so I need a CB that I can really cast far. I like the distance I get with the ledge 250 CB using my Dobyns 705 glass but I have no idea if i can get the same distance with the DD22 CB. How do they compare in casting distance? There are so many DD22 colors to choose from I don't know which 4 to get. Thanks for the help

As colors 'fade' in deeper water, your considerations should center around shade in deeper running cranks.  Light or dark, pick accordingly.  I personally like the Suicide color as it has both and I had been very fond of the citris color they call Mountain Doo now.. The Nutter Shad is also a great light color.   For darker colors I'd go with Chilli bowl (my fav) and RedBlack or one of the craw colors. 

As far as casting distance goes, it depends on your gear.  This bait weighs over 1/2oz., but because of it's size it has a lot of both air and water resistance.  Be ready, deep cranking can wear you out even with the right equipment.

Thanks for the help. I've been using a Shimano Chronarch 200e7 and now I know why people use a 200e5. It's time to buy a new reel!

Colors differ greatly!

The DD22 HD may be worth looking into.

 

Being a bit heavier, it casts effectively which could translate to making & holding the advertised running depths.

 

Since these came out, my standard DD22's have been by and large Dry.

I've had a very similar experience to A-Jay, since I picked up my first DD22 HD last year I haven't thrown the regular DD22. My favorite color is chartreuse blue back.

Chart/blue back and lavander shad.  Its the only dd22's I throw.

DD22hd it's a one ounce bait vs a normal DD22 @ 5/8 oz cast far I got mine at bass pro in Clarksville , In. The lighter version will back up quicker though... Color is well for me a blue gill pattern or crawfish color good luck and hope u like them... They are great baits!
