WalMart $1 Spinnerbaits - Anybody Use 'Em?

The reason I say they are poor is because of the cheap swivel . I let spinnerbaits drop a lot and the blades wont turn with those swivels .

  • Son of a gun, it's getting creepy here lately, all these corpse threads resurrecting from beyond the grave, first a 10 year old post, now a six year old post ...... must be cabin fever.

Not only do they resurrect them but he just answered the question as of the OP was still looking for a response lol.

  • As "real" as what? Thats one of the most confusing statements I've read here??  They don't look as real as a real spinnerbait or....

I know a guy who caught a +9 pounder on a $1 Wal-Mart spinnerbait and I have done well with them myself. They are not the best spinnerbait in the market, but they are great for throwing in areas you would not want to throw and maybe lose a +$7 spinnerbait in.

WalMart spinner baits are killers. Buy them 5-6 at a time though they tear up pretty easy. I'm not scared to throw them anywhere like I am more expensive spinnerbaits, probably why they work so well.

A couple times I have found large lots of assorted Pond Magic spinnerbaits for very cheap online.  I treat them the same way, I'll throw one of those little guys into most anything, knowing that worst case, I'm out a buck or two.

I love the $1 spinner baits and so do the fish?

I bought ten of these a year ago used one of them a few times , didn't get any bites but they seemed to work fine , the hook is very cheap at least when I was tearing the price tag sticker off the hook it felt that way. I don't use spinnerbaits often but when I do I usually fish my higher end ones anyways

One of the reasons I started using them is here in South Florida we have a variety of fish in our canal systems and Everglades mudfish, alligator gar, snakeheads ,Oscars, peacock.bass etc etc so when fishing for largemouth bass you have to contend with these guys and they all destroy lures so I rather spend $1 on a spinnerbait and they love the spinnerbaits so do the bass down here and I love fishing a spinnerbait .Are they best spinnerbait not at all, they do catch though.

Everyone should carry a few of these in their tackle bag. For days when they will hit any spinnerbait I recommend them.  Wire or zip tie the skirts down and you are set.

That's the only problem I experienced with them is skirt slips from time to time thats no big deal simple adjustment. I actually had one of those spinnerbaits net 100 bass  on avg though I'll get 20-30 bass per spinnerbait

I catch more bass and northern on those than anything else but I add softbaits to the hook.   I have been using dollar spinner baits at Walmart for a long time but now I think they are out of stock and going bye!  Please Walmart bring them back!!!!  The only time I catch more big bass and northern for the most part is with live bait shiners and tip ups through these ice

If they are discontinued I think I'd be sad, they are a great bait for the price, they work fabulously as a 4x4 type exploration bait for guys like me who haven't got any electronics, and they come through most every bit of structure, cover, vegetation, rock pile or whatever you want to throw them in, and I'll probably go buy a bunch of them just to have as expendable baits, great thread necro too lol, these things are pretty fun.

From a business perspective, part of what we are seeing is that Walmart operates on slim margins, and other companies simply don't.  I imagine the $7 spinnerbaits people are buying don't cost much more to make than Walmart's, even if the quality is a bit better, unless those baits are being made in America.

This thread seamed to have stood the test of time. Started in 2010, came back to life in 2017 again in 2021. For a $1.00 spinnerbait. ?

I have caught and broke my personal best with the cheap spinners. It's nice because if you get snagged you're not sad because it was only a dollar compared to the $8 spinners that almost seem prone to snagging on whatever is hidden in the depths of my pond.
