Well wondering which rod to buy. This has come down to the Dobyns Champion 705CB or the Champion 705 Glass. Mainly for shallow, jerkbait and medium depth lures. Will get majority consensus from this to help with decision. Have noticed from past that glass rod is a good choice but with me never having used one I just want to have clarification.

I use a 7' St.Croix Rage MHF,Quantum smoke MHF and a Basspro-Extreme MHF this are great rods for crankbaits,Good luck.Greg

Go with the graphite if you are going to use jerkbaits or other shallow cranks that will encounter cover. I'm in awe of how guys can use 7' moderate rods to fish jerkbaits, I try it and I can't get the bait to work right, I hit the water and the side of the boat, it is just very hard to do but some can do it. The glass rod is going to be heavier and slower in action, I use a glass rod for medium diving and deep diving cranks only, and it is because I normally fish those in more open water, if you have to get a fish away from cover as soon as it is hooked, well that is extremely tough, and almost impossible to do with a glass rod. I know the Dobyns graphite rods are really moderate but they will have more backbone than the glass so based on what you will be using I'd go with that over the glass.

Go glass. You won't regret it, longer cast better feeling for cranking. You get a delayed reaction from when the fish bites giving the fish time to get all the bait and prevents you from ripping the

Bait away. The bend of the glass rod gives you a perfect hook set with cranks. Also glass rods are nice when using other moving baits.

I'm going to say 705CB. That's the rod I use for those presentations as well as lipless cranks and it's a great rod. I also think I would prefer it over the glass version for jerk baits. However, I really don't think you can go wrong with either one. 

I got the 705CB for exactly what you mentioned. Although, from all the people I talked to and reviews I read, it seems to be a 50/50 split and really comes down to personal preference between glass and graphite

I don't have experience with either rod but for the techniques you mention, I would go with graphite.  Like smalljaw67 said, I wouldn't use glass for jerkbaits.
