That seller will combine orders, and discount shipping. It encourages purchasing multiple items. What do you think Bass Pro Shops would charge? $4.95 for five skirts that cost $2.99. Its a very common practice.

:;)

Exactly!!! If we were privy to the discounted shipping rates that places like BPS gets, all of our jaws would be on the floor. They make money on shipping to.

If you understood anything about running a retail business, you'd know that you lose money on low revenue transactions.

Never had a problem with Ebay. Just read carefully and decide what you want and what you are willing to pay including shipping. Pretty simple.

There are good and bad people everywhere, Ebay is no exception.

I have had people refund shipping and even give me lures for free when the transaction & shipping process did not go as planned.

Bottom line, be carefull and also report problems to help get rid of the bad eggs. Giving bad feedback can save others.

I guess I've been lucky on ebay, only got messed up once. I''ve ordered hundreds of items but one time I ordered a nice, hard to get color, Rapala lure. When it arrived it was plain old silver, emailed seller and said I received wrong color, answer was "Oh, I only used that picture as a sample."

Listing didn't say color but if it's pictured it should be what you get!! >;)

I'm probably the only person on here that can say this but I don't buy or sell on ebay. Never have, never will.

I buy and sell on eBay.  I sell very few fishing items.  Most of my items are high dollar items.  I include in shipping cost the following, postage cost, packing, boxes, my time, cost of taking items to  either UPS or Post Office.  I boldly display costs' in  descriptions and buyer  don't want to pay for my trouble they don't have to bid on my  items.

Phil, a couple of things. First. the Cumara you bought from them. There is no balloon charge from NC to CA. In fact, it cost more to ship Parcel Post than Priority. Secondly, about shipping costs, a lot of sellers figure in the costs like packaging, fuel, time etc.

One thing that gripes me is BPS and Cabelas.

For instance, you buy a $50 reel and shipping is $7.95. buy a $300 reel and shipping is $16.95. They charge $9 more because the reel cost more, not because the shipping is more.

Getting back to E Bay, I was going to buy a couple of reel covers from E Bay but the shipping is $3 for one and $5 for two. A reel cover weighs about 2 oz, the cost to ship two reel covers in a padded envelope should cost less than $3. Why should I pay an extra $2? So, as I would recommend to you, don't buy from them if you don't like the shipping costs, I know I won't. But remember this when you buy something from the Big box stores that charge you according to the cost of the purchase and not the actual cost of shipping. BTW, for all of you that shop with Cabelas. If you call customer service and complain about the shipping charges, they'll ship your order for a flat $8. I did this with a rod that they wanted $26 for shipping.

Shipping Rods is expensive. I have shipped many & always by FedEx Express Saver(never had a problem). Just the FedEx cost ran about $30. depending on the amount of Insurance.

Thats how I always used to do it on EBAY, there auction fees are ridiculous and this was a way to recoup some of your auction fees. It doesn't cost anymore to ship the item, but I can guaranty after paying auction fees on the other auction he is probably making like an extra 50 cents or so.
