Nrx 854C For Frogging

Featured Replies

Would you use this rod for frogging?  I just pick this up during the 25% sale they had for 400 I just couldn't pass up and my intend purpose for frogging.  Once I received the rod I thought the rod would have more back bone or more stout.  My 893c has a thicker diameter but section thats weird and its a MH.

I cant believe how low the weight rating for lures on that rod is... 3/4oz on a heavy?

I own the nrx854. It could work but it isnt ideal for frogging.

Good to hear it will work.. I was thinking maybe it wasn't powerful enough....  And I know its not ideal for frogs but I'll see if I can some how work with it, if not then it'll probably end up being my heavy jig rod.

If you do decide to use it as a heavy jig rod then take a look at the 935 it will certainly do the job.

Personally I'd use that for something else. Most people could get by on a lightning rod shock for frogging cost = $40 dollars
