Money is not the deciding factor here, but looking for anyone who's fished a 4.7:1 PQ with deep running cranks.  I'd really like to have the slower speed for cranking deep for walleye.  I like the big handle on the Winch also, but its only 5.4:1.  Maybe not a huge difference, but with walleye where I fish, it may be.  I dont want the PQ if I'm going to have to sacrifice smoothness.  I know I'll already be adding 2.5 ounces if I go with the PQ.  Wondering what people think would be better for cranks that run 8-16 feet?

Get a Zillion crazy cranker? That is if money is not an issue? It's got the ratio you want.

If you can slow your retrieve down, you can pick any reel you want

I use the  Winch for my deep cranks .....its really smooth/lightweight  and you could throw a crank bait a mile with it esp deep divers which with the 5.4:1 gets the bait down quick and keeps it in the strike zone for pretty much the whole cast.....I like it a lot I think it was money well spent and if your not worried about money I would recommend it .....I have not had any issues with it either as far as anything breaking. 

I'm a shimano guy so take it for what you will. I've had a revo s and it too much fine tuning to get it perfect but it was a decent reel. The lews are nice too but I just couldn't get a good feel for it ended up selling it too.you can get a curado 200g5 for 99 from a lot of places now. Some old curados come up for sell on here occasionally that have the 3.8:1 ratio if you really want to slow it down

I got to play with one a shimano rep had rigged up a few weeks ago and it was awesome. I could easily pitch a 3/8 casting plug farther than I could with my chronarch or curados. I think it's going to be a great reel

Big eyes eat DTs!  I've caught a few in the 30'' range on DT-20s in old Red Crawdad junk fishing.  I crank with 6.4:1 but I'm slow on the reel handle.

I've heard a lot of people love the pq and only know of a couple that had any kind of trouble and that was a simple fix.

Just bought a new crankin set up and put a 5.2 to 1 pro qualifier on it. After taking it out a few times just to try it out I will probably be trying to start switching ally reels over to the PQ. It's smooth and will throw a 6XD as far as I can get it out there. With that ratio reeling it in is easy as can be.

i use a PQ 5:2 for my deep cranks and love it.  very smooth.  no problems. 

i use a BP Crankin' Stick 7ft mh.  would like to sell the rod and upgrade... the rod is ok...but i wish it had a longer handle to rest against my body to crank..

I use the PQ in the ratio you mentioned and realy like it.  It isn't the lightest reel as you mentioned but for a value proposition i think it is top notch.

I just boughtt the 5:2 PQ today for all cranking. I was really hesitant because we dont have many lakes in Fla that can be considered deep water lakes. Most are just shallow bowls, with a few that I would consider deep..15+

Most cranks I throw are sq bills, floaters or suspending....

That's what I have now and i do not like it.  I love the Lew's TP's, but the BB1 brakes are different and it squeals on the cast.  It's about a year old, so I doubt they would warranty it.  I'm sure not buying another though.

The PQ is one of the best reels out there for $100 bucks and will out perform many reels in the $150 range. I have four of them and they are bomb proof, sold a fifth one once but that's just because I needed a cranking reel while my curado was in the shop.

No experience with the winch. It certainly is a well regarded reel. The PQ I do have some experience with. Darn good reel, especially given its price. It's an even better bargain when it's on sale like it is right now. I bought three more today in fact as backups.

Now, personally for deep cranking, I use a Curado 200 DPV. Old, big, tank of a reel. Handles everything. If you search around a bit, you can get them very cheap. I think mine was like 30 bucks. Give it a good clean and lube and it was good as new.

Wow, cannot believe it was that simple. Thought there was something wrong with my reel the way it sounded. It's been that way since the 2nd month after I bought it. That took all the squeak out of it. Thanks.

I had a PQ on my deep cranking rod. It was a great little reel that would really launch my cranks and handled bass up to 7.5 pounds with no problems. 

Ended up snagging a 4.7 PQ for $65 during reel trade in.  Used it yesterday and I am really impressed.  Smooth little reel.  If it were not for the extra 1.5 - 2 oz of weight, I'd put it right up there with my Lew's TP reels.
