What's your favorite Shad Rap style bait? I'm a big fan of the balsa Shad Raps. I've also used the plastic Shad Raps, but I don't think I've ever tried any of the similar lures made by other companies.

The original balsa ones are the business, but I've known people to do well on the jointed and "glass" pattern ones, too.

Rebel (I think) made a shad rap knock-off for a while. You could find them often in bargain bins in this color pattern that looked like a baby striper (white w/ thin black lines) at alot of different stores. My buddy chucked one of these endlessly one nasty winter day and ended up catching a 7 pounder. So I guess that one worked, too.

If it's a Shad Rap and its made by Rapala, I like it.  I catch a lot of fish on the original Shad Rap and shallow Shad Rap.  The glass and rattling Shad Raps suspend and are good cold water baits. 

If I could only have one crankbait, a balsa shad rap would be it! I have caught a lot of fish on the shallow shad rap in the smallest size also, from bass to walleye, striper and big brown trout! I also like the jointed shad raps too, but haven't used it as extensivly as the others!

Love the original balsa shad rap.  Caught a 3 1/2 pounder with the original in perch with about 5 minutes left in a club tourney, I was going nuts cause I was so pumped.  A couple passed by and said "Never give up!" and I repeated it. Cool moment.   Too bad I only finished 15th :'(.....ha ha ha.

I have done the best with Rapala Shad Rap in the small size in perch color.(Balsa)
