Jig Color Question

Featured Replies

This may be a dumb question.....we see a lot of crankbaits that are "red craw" color and they work wonders in the spring. So, if those are supposed to resemble a craw, why aren't we throwing red colored jigs? Aren't they supposed to mimic a craw? I know that black and blue along with green pumpkin are the most popular. But I'm thinking a red jig may work.....

Red jigs do work especially when the crawfish are molting. Red, orange , colors like that work we'll during the crawfish molt

I like orange in jigs that I'm fishing in places that have a lot of craws but one of my favorite colors for jigs is red and black.

Jigs, any color is fine as long as it´s black. Oh well, for the sake of the argument, black & blue, black & red, black & chartreuse, black & orange and my personal favorite ------> Back In Black !

I like red jigs at night in the summer with a white trailer in the waxing moon (gibbous to full).

The only time a black jig works where I fish is at night, our crawdads are reddish brown unless they are molting, then they greenish brown.

The best way to know what actually works where you live is to catch some crawdads out of the water you fish and look at them in a clear glass jar filled with water.

If all you ever fish with is black and blue jigs, you will catch bass on that color, the ??? Is that the best color???

I ordered some tabs to make some fire and ice jig... That's a color combo I've done well on with soft plastics. If it fails I'm only out a couple bucks. Sometimes it helps me to just be creative.

Ive had days where my fishing partner was throwing a black and blue jig and I was using red and black and I was smoking him three to one
