Storm Wiggle Wart- Original Series

Recommended Posts

Hello friends, I got a chance to get up to BPS today to look around. Among my purchases was this Storm Wiggle Wart Original Series. I had read on here people talking about a 'pre rapala' version, and I was just wondering where this lure stands in regards to that. Here is a picture, on the back it has a copyright sign beside the year 2006 and is 2" and 3/8oz. I couldn't find the same colour when I got home and checked the BPS site quickly, so if anyone knows anything about these, (name of colour, best time of year to use or around what types of cover or structure) I would appreciate the help.

Pre rapala warts are not sold in retail stores and have not been for years and years. Acquiring them requires lucky garage garage sale finds, forum sales, etc. that is not a pre rapala wiggle wart.

I figured, thanks for the reply!

It may not be pre-rapala but people have been saying that the recent versions have been tweaked as well.

Yes I did hear that they are going to go back to making them the the way they were! Alot of people were not happy with the change!! So I think they got the hint!

If you buy enough you are bound to find a few that work like they should.  The new ones sound completely different though.

They went back to the original molds that were you used back before Rapala.  Storm changed the style around 2000 I think, to what it was before the present Wart.

I hope they put Storm back on the bill! Or it will be hard to tell the bad ones from the old molds that they went back to!

That is not an original pre Rapala WW, it is a new Rapala WW but made with the original Storm molds before the company became owned by Normark. I own all varieties, original Storm WWs are not better, they are just different.

The density of the plastic on pre-rapala warts is different than newer versions. The rattles in pre-rapala were also lead. Older pre-rapala will have wiggle wart stamped under the bill but be careful folks are forging the stamp. If the stamp looks clean and easily read most likely a fraud.

Yup, that is what I say, original Storms are different, feel different and sound different even though they look, theoretically, identical, to the new Normark versions

I hope they don't, then it will be impossible to tell them from the true "originals". They could just put something on the box about them being made from the original molds or something.

The underside of the bills, the originals say "wiggle wart", the new ones say "Storm".
