$150 Or Under Rod Selection

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for an all - around spinning rod for $150 or under that is available at BPS (have a gift card). Had a carbonlite and snapped in half on a hookset

Duckett, St Croix triumph, veritas... just go see which one feels the best

Can't you get it replaced under warranty?  I've heard bps is great about handing you a new rod.

That is how I obtained the giftcard. Saw 2 more that were broken at the service desk and now I do not want to buy any more.

7' med veritas is a great all around rod

With the veritas on sale right now at $79.99 you cant go wrong. If I had the money I would buy ten of them. Super light, very balanced, great back bone.

I didn't like my vertias. I went with a Fenwick HMG ML-F and I love it so far. its $100 dollars so you'll have some cash left over for some tackle.

the $150 catagory is the most competive..... you have MANY MANY choices so you should easily be able to find one you like.

Shimano Crucial or St Croix Rage

Just go to your nearest BPS and see which rods feel best in your hand. In your price range it's hard to go wrong. Lots of good options

I'd say a St. Croix Premier in either 6'6" or 7' M/F  or the 6'10" M/XF.

If only looking a BPS i would look at the Shimano Crucial and even look at the BPS Johnny Morris signature series rods. The Duckett rod would be a great choice also.

Saint Croix Eyecon series has a couple of gems that are appropriate for bass, though they are labeled as walleye rods. I have a 6-8 mlxf that is a good all around spinner. There's also a 7' mf that is pretty sweet too. My son uses a 6-3 mlxf that is very close to my Avid with the same specs, and the bonus is they have a great handle - very comfortable.

Dobyns savvy.
