I bought the Owner Cutting Point XXX strong straight shank hooks and have made my own bait keepers. I bought some small waterproof heat shrink tubing. It has an adhesive coating on the inside. I also place a small bit of paper clip inside before I melt the tubing in place. Works great.

I like the keeper on the MiHatchi hooks, what I didn't like is that the ones I purchased started rusting.

I use the Gamakatsu SkipGap hooks I did order some Trokar 4/0 & 5/0 swimbait hooks they are pricey at 5 hooks for $9.99 I did get some from BTD for $7.99. I'll have to wait till ice off to try the Trokar hooks.

The Miatachi/Youvella hooks do rust like a pair of 99 cent needle nose pliars.  Check out the new Mustad Ultra-point KVD tube hook as an option if you like that keeper style.

Not worth the price tag! I bought 3 packs and every one of the points rolled. POS in my opinion 8-)

I used them a bit last year.  At first was having great luck, used them for a while with really hookups and no issues.  Then I started breaking them.  I had very little problem with the hooks staying sharp, I carry a LJ file for that reason.

That said, I have some jigs from a guy in MN that are built around the Trokar and fished them over the winter in CA and had zero issues.  I still don't like how brittle the hooks are, but have yet to break any others after the flipping hooks.

This is one of those products there are huge pros and cons on. 

From what I've delt with them they are the sharpest hook I have used.  I have yet to see a sharper hook.

With that there are draw backs.  Thin sharp points unfortunately are not as strong as cones or X's.  The benifit is better penetration.

Its an opinion of which suits your style and preference better.  I fish alot of X point hooks.  At the time it was the most expensive hook on the market.  They also had their pros and cons.  Same with any of them.

I've heard the same issues on them, dulling, and somebody on here was complaining about them breaking on a hard hookset. With that info and the ten dollar price tag, I'm not buying any. I'm just fine with my 99 cent per pack clearance supply of Strike King Saber Point Hooks.

The Trokars flipping hooks with the plastic keeper are excellent hooks, but Trokars in general are no better than the other top brands, IMO. Certainly not worth the extra money.

These new Gammies are 4 for $5. I haven't tried them yet but they look good if you like hooks with keepers. I like using Owners with heat shrink tubing that's super glued on.
