My other topic prompted this. Anyone put rice in the bottom of their plano boxes. i know rice absorbs moisture wonderfully. Anytime I get something wet, i put it in a bowl of rice for 24 hours or so and it works again. Thinking of putting rice in the bottom of my boxes.

Abzorb Oil mat can absorb water air dry then absorb more, the Abzorb mat is approximately 1/8th inch thick and can be cut to size.

I'd be afraid with the rice that if you went fishing for the weekend and it rained by the time you got home you'd have a mushy mess of bait fried rice.  ;D

Save the little ones you get when you buy certain items. I usually open all my boxes at the end of the day or trip and let them air out. I also drill small holes in inconspicuous areas of the boxes to let air in and moisture out. Haven't really had a noticeable problem that I can remember. Also, you might look like a fool doing this, but before cutting off you bait and storing it, swirl it around in the air for a few seconds over your head. Can't remember where I heard that but it will dry out your bait, especially skirted baits like spinnerbaits and jigs.

ive seen rice mixed in with the salt on the tables at mexican resteraunts, but i have never thought to put that to use like that. it probably is a problem when you drop the box  ;D
