I am stumped right now on what to write for my persuasive essay due next week. I don't want to do a controversial topic or anything political. Some ideas in my class were to eliminate tests and have regular quizzes so students stay current. Another was have teachers post notes online so students can focus on learning. 

 

I just don't have any ideas and was hoping you guys could give me some to spark up some ideas.

Things I have written persuasive essays over.

Drug testing in high school sports

Flat tax rate (topic was given to me by professor)

Food distribution in urban areas

Education budgets

Most of all pick something you feel strongly about.

Should NCAA athletes be paid or unionized?

Is fishing a sport?

Why crankbaits are the best bait ever made.

Why Raider is the greatest man to ever walk the earth, and Fishing Rhino wishes he could be just like him.

Why Raider is the best bass fisher to ever live. Even KVD wants to be like me.

Compare and Contrast essay idea. Why Raider is more awesome than Narcissus.

Pick a controversial topic, I feel its generally easier to pick one side and roll with it.

One big one I did my freshman year of college was write about why commercial fishing with sein nets and long line rigs, and other types are bad for the environment. Not that I fully believed that but because it was easy to finds lots of information about it. I wrote about bycatch, damaged nets cause to underwater structure like reefs, and sorts of stuff like that. Spend a little time on a controversial topic and you can find both sides of the argument and lots of information supporting both.

Other topic ideas:

Why everyone should switch to using Daiwa products. LOL. I am just messing around. I would choose something that you are truly interested in so that it is easy to write about. What types of things do you like?

I'm all for drug testing for everyone.  As people go about their daily lives they become set in their ways, for the most part.  Take me for example.  There might be some mind/mood altering drugs that I'm currently running a consumption deficit in.  A drug test would catch that and my drug consumption would improve.  Back when I was in college, I firmly believed that if everyone smoked 3 or 4 joints a day, there wouldn't be any more wars.

 

Just for sport, try selling that idea to the prof.

It's not a very exciting topic (until you actually begin paying property taxes-and then you'll understand) but here's one:  Why property tax assessment is unfair, should be banned, and why city taxes should be based solely on cost of services, infrastructure, salaries, etc.

I wrote a paper on banning pesticide use a month or two ago. A little dull but it was easy to argue and I found a lot of info on it.
