I need suggestions on a good crankin combo under $400. It will be for medium divers, down to about 12 feet probably. Give your suggestions on rod and reel. Thanks

Try a St Croix Avid cranking rod, 7` MH, with a Lews tournament Speed spool 5.4:1 gear ratio with 12 pound sunline fluorocarbon. Awesome all around cranking rod.

Can't go wrong with a Powell Endurance 724 cb and Lews Tournament Pro or a Lews BB1. If you plan to use it for shallow squarbills and Lipless cranks as well as mediums go with the 6:1 ratio, if you plan to use the set sole for medium and deep divers then the 5.4:1 may be a better choice. If there's a lot of heavy cover and weeds I would up the rod to the 725cb

If you buy them where I get them from, this combo can be had for 260-300 )depending on reel choice. And is a 400 combo at list price.

I would say a St. Croix LTB or a pinnacle perfecta rod with a lews BB1.

Dobyns 764cb RM with a Lews BB1pro.

 

I just bought this one for myself for dt 10s to 5xds....... it will be able to throw 2.5 square bills too.
