i just got a new duckett spinning rod so I'm looking for a good reel to go with it for <$100. I'm really leaning towards the shimano symetre 3000 but i just wanted to get some feedback before i did anything. thanks for the help

The Symetre is a great choice. But for bass fishing, the only difference between the 2500 and 3000 is the depth of the spool.

 

So FWIW, I use 1000 size Stradics for bass fishing. I've caught many 6+ pound bass on these and have never once come close to being spooled.

 

Thus I'd recommend a 1000 or 2500 for your needs. But that's me. I love the smaller size reels.

I have the 20, 200, 2000 sized reels but mainly been using the 2500, 3000, 4000 sized reels. I just threw the 200 sized reels a few times and liked it. I'm not sure what the difference is but it seemed to cast easier.

I have my Duckett Ghost spinning rod paired with a Daiwa Aird reel, they sell for about $90 and come with a spare spool.

i have an AIRD 2500 as well.  I love it.  I use it for trout and bass fishing., It throws an 8th oz rooster tail a good distance and has the power and drag to get bass out of the pads with heavy braid line.  just my two cents

It's hard to go wrong in the $60-$100 range. If you can catch a sale or bump the budget to $120, the Daiwa Lexa is a heck of a reel for the money.

The Symetre is a great reel but honestly I don't think you'll notice a difference other than price and color between a Symetre and a Sahara. 

Any reel sized 2500 or under is fine for bass fishing, I'd use the one that feels the most comfortable on the rod.  In the sub $100 market I don't think there is much of a difference in performance from brand to brand or model to model.

The Daiwa aird in 2500 size is tremendous value for money. Much lighter than many reels at that price point, plus a spare spool. Hard to go wrong there.

I have a Daiwa Aird 2500. Very smooth and never had line twist. The spare reel comes in handy. I have the main one spooled with braid and the spare one with copolymer.

Plueger President, Daiwa Legalis, Mitchell 300Pro, Lew's Tournament HS are all better than Symetre unless you are a Shimano fan then nothing beats anything from Shimano  . But I can promise you that if you pick up the Lew's Tournament HS reel you would not regret it and never look back.

 

P.S. I have replaced the two Symetre I have with the Lew's Tournament HS and Daiwa Legalis. Lew's is by far smoother than both reels.
