Shakey head?

Featured Replies

I love shakey head fishing, but I feel like I have not found the best jig head for this technique yet! Any suggestions?

These are my favorite I like something with a baitsaver, I also have had much better luck on shaky heads with spherical jig heads without the stand up heads.

I make one almost exactly like that and have had very good luck with it. The only thing different is I cut off most of the corkscrew before I put a bait on it, there really isn't any need for it to be that long and just makes it more difficult to twist your bait on.

Spot removers...great little jig head and can find em just about anywhere..

There are some good ones out there to select among.

Ike says use tungsten which are expensive.

The MegaStrike's Shake2 Shaky Heads are outstanding.

There are many rounds ones you can consider.

Just remember that if you throw them where the bass are hiding you will lose some. This is why I use the MegaStrikes and tungsten ones in tournaments and others for fun fishing.  :)

Sam, I have used the tungsten ones before and have had the hook break just below the head numerous times even out of different packs. Love the way they fished but can not take any chances! Thanks for your recommendation though!

Strike King tour grade, both  round and football. I hate jig heads with the screw lock bait keeper.

X2 on these, you can find them anywhere and they are not overly expensive.

I like the pro series spot remover... I have to check the MegaStrike ones as well.

Picasso or Flandlands shakey heads

Are you talking about the Tru Tungsten Ikey Heads? I love those things. I've been using them for years, and I've never had one break.

I tried Spot Removers three or four years ago, and they seemed like good shakey heads, but all of their hooks were dull. I don't like having to sharpen hooks right out of the package, so I've never bought any since.

The one I've had the bast luck with over the past year or so has been the Giggy Head, the standard model with the barbed post, not the screw version. It's not ideal for thinner plastics, but it workes well with a Power Shaky Worm.

I also have several packs of the Arkie U-Bolt to try. They look pretty good, but when I'm looking in the tackle box for a shaky head I usually reach for the Giggy Head instead.  ;D

I've used Gander Mountains shaky head for years now, and I absolutely love them...never found a reason to switch

Yes the ikey heads the hooks would break right below the head!

I'm using Strike King shakey jigs for now so far I like them. I have some other brand can't remember names with the worm keepers on it just not much luck with those. I also think I have some Archie also that I haven't had much luck with.

Sam I heard Green Top has some nice prices on there shakey head jigs there. Does Green Top got any good deals going on? I haven't been there in a long while now.

Spot Removers, Strike King Tour Grade, and Ike Heads I use all of them and they all work fine.

I've been using 1/16 and 1/8 oz Charlie Brewer Spider Sliders for over 30 years.  Of course back then we hadn't heard of Shaky Head fishing. :)

1/8 oz spot removers are the best.

I use ball heads only when I run out of spot removers... has only happened twice. :'(

Has anybody ever tried the Bagley Shaky head jigs?

I just bought me a pack of 1/16 to try out. $4.29 for 6.

I have a bunch of ikey heads and if I fish them around rocks the weights keeps separating from the hooks.

really. never had that problem with the Ikey head, I have used at least 30-40 of them. Well, on the other hand I haven't really fished them around the rocks.
