Pro Qualifier Being Discontinued?

Featured Replies

I see on basspro.com that the PQ is on sale for 79.97.  I think most stores that end the sale prices in .97 or something odd like that, they are being discontinued.  Does anybody know if this is true or am I ASSUMING wrong?  I didn't know if they were coming with a newer version or what since this reel has been around for a few years from what I've read.

Bass pro usually ends their sale prices with 97 if I'm not mistaken. You should still buy another reel or two. Even if there is a new model coming, you can't count on it being of higher quality unfortunately.

I'm having a hard time deciding.  I've got a $25 bass pro gift card so it would drop the price down to like $54.97 but then I would have to pay for shipping and the other hard thing I'm dealing with is holding the reel in my hand.  I know its an awesome reel and especially for a beginner like myself from what I've read.

The pq goes in sale a lot. Theres a less than 0% chance they would d/c the pq. Maybe a new model. Likely just on sale.

I think they want to switch the PQ over to a different reel design.  There used to be a bunch of BPS reels that were of the same reel platform as the PQ and the PQ is one of the few survivors.  The Extreme used to be PQ based but now uses a completely different design, which I happen to really like a lot.  A lot of the other PQ based reels have changed platforms.  Some for better and some for worse.

Right now purchases of fishing gear online  over $25 will be free shipping.  So dont worry about that.  Its not a bad reel. I liked mine a lot until it locked up on me. I traded it in paid a bit more and got a citica at the end of the day, but it is a nice reel. I dont expect it to be on clearance, but who knows.

Standard sale price.

they should pick a team and play on it with a brake system. you either want pins or you want external centrificals or you want mag brakes. i like mine but i would not buy another
