It's just really close to the camera, still big though.

 

Lingcod have terrible attitudes and will attack fish bigger than them. Check out some Youtube videos on them, some that even get netted after latching onto a hooked fish and refusing to let go despite not even being hooked themselves. Supposed to be terrific eating too.

Original photo has an extreme fish eye lens much like a GoPro does. Very well could be only 25-30 lbs the way he's holding it to the camera and the lens.  Impossible to tell off that picture.  Neat fish though.
