Ten G Loomis rods, and twelve Shimano reels. I am parking right here. Not switching any more. I'm not, no I am not, not now, not ever again. I promise. Do you believe, I actually said this to my wife?

You must of been having a weak moment to say that to your wife,as for yourself who are you kidding.

Thanks a lot for the reminder, Goose. Since I posted that, I bought another Tatula rod, won a Pinnacle rod at the RoadTrip banquet, and bought a nice used TD-Z.

I did sell a rod to make "room" for the new Tatula. Justification, or rationalization? I'll be the judge of that, thank you very much.

The rod I won was sitting in my rod rack, without a reel. I could not allow such a state of affairs to continue, could I? A TD-Z, without a handle, popped up in the flea market, for a very good price. I had a spare TD-Z handle just laying about, gathering dust. What's a guy to do when the planets align, but cooperate with the inevitable?.

I have no will power.

You poor guys. LOL.

I've been apologizing to my better half after the fact for the past couple purchases... the expensive ones, that is. Both Chronarch 50e reels. Those things are drugs, man.

OH NO!...I wish you hadn't pointed that out. What must I have been thinking.

Wait, maybe I can convince myself that I just have 2 extra reels.

This is a very good point....

I am at the point now where unless I get a deal on something nice unless its on clearance (t3's) or used. I think I am gonna buy some omens if I like the one I am looking at or maybe some envys.

I just switched to the better quality LEWS SPEED STICK spinning and bait casting rods. I have some different bait casting rods also. I'm up to the average $100 rods on sale for 25% to 50% off the $100 list. Right now these LEWS rods feel good. But as most of you know we can change our minds too. I jumped on the LEWS mainly because of the cost. But I had to like the feel of the rod too.

I'm happy with my okuma, fin nor, viva, globe spinning reels.

As the brown boxes of new lures are constantly showing up there piling up.

I'M A TACKLE HOARDER I ADMIT I HAVE A PROBLEM. BUT DO I?

Seriously can we have too much tackle?

When I have a lure that works I stock up on them for the fear of them being discontinued. It's happened before to my hottest go to lures that to this day never let me down. Plus being a color freak I have to purchase all the colors.

But I feel I have enough of the standard bomber colors. I have moved on to there fat free colors along with the dances colors now.

I was rotating different brands sizes and colors due to there fish catching performance. Now the hotter lures stay while the not so hot lures go into my storage box. They were hot once but in fishing the same exact spots the fish learn our baits. This is why one lure is hotter than Haiti this year isn't so hot next year.

It's a fishing the smaller bodies of water shore thing. Some baits need to be rotated. I rotate back to them again. I keep some lures freshly rotated.

But my ritual of lures in my line up stays the same.

I find that most lures do catch fish. The ones that don't need to be tuned.

Fact, so far every bomber lure of the exact same model, color and size catches fish. I can't say that about all the hard bait manufacturers. Norman lures is another good constant lure.

I have a problem too. I am at the point where I am upgrading most of my stuff. Dobyn's rods and Shimano, Daiwa or High end lew's will be my go to's for some time.

I see an arithmetical problem there, I have at least 2 reels per rod, some rods have more than two reels for it, there are days all my reels are Daiwa,  other days all are Shimano and finally, all are Abu. I don´t mix, it´s that way.

So 10 rods = at least 20 reels pal. :eyebrows:

You guys are crackin me up. I used to have 14 setups and now I'm down to 10, but it keeps building and building. I find myself having saved enough for another rod (that I don't need), which I always buy, then I forget that I have to buy a reel too. AFTER I buy the rod... :doh10:

Well, all this talk a bout the NRX vs custom rods has just worn me down.

I need another rod like I need another hole in my head, I just don't know

how big the hole should be!

I am having a split grip spinning rod built for soft plastics from Mike at

Delaware Valley Tackle. I mailed him the reel that will be used, a Stella

2500FB. I'm having it serviced at the same time.

I'm pretty jazzed up!

I believe you...  BUt I'm pretty sure the wife is just humoring you in not calling you out.  :laugh5:   You can't stop.  You wouldn't be here if you could!   :tongue8:

I find myself constantly buying and trying stuff out, then selling it, losing money and months later buying it again, lol. I have 10 rods & 6 reels at the moment, ive worked so hard to get my freshwater gear ready that i completely forgot about my saltwater setups.

Was really hoping to save up a little money for a proper surf combo and bay setup, oh well.....
