Yum Dinger

Featured Replies

I just bought a pack of five inch yum dingers. I was wondering how you would rig them? I was thinking weightless Texas rig or with a 1/8 oz bullet weight.

I like the dingers just fine for weighted texas rigging, but i have more confidence in the "shimmy" of the GYCB senko for weightless wacky rigging.

I love Yum Dingers. I've got at least one rigged up all year long. Most of the time I'll have two. I usually fish the 5" Dinger on a weightless Texas rig. If I'm trying to fish them a little deeper I'll throw on a 1/16 oz or 1/8 oz tungsten weight. You can fish them wacky as well and I've had great luck with them that way. Normally I add a 1/16 oz Eco Pro Tungsten Pro Wacky Weight to them to get a little faster sink rate out of them. They also help to make them last longer. My go to choice for a wacky rig though is the 4" Dinger with a 1/32 oz Pro Wacky Weight.

They work decent using a traditional texas rig.  I suggest you get some nail weights and stick one in the tail about a half inch in from the tip burying it completing into the body of the worm and rig it weightless texas with a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook.  The drop action makes it shimmy a lot more and it goes in at an angle away from you, so it kinda searches out a little bit.  I have had a lot of hits on the first drop after the lure hits the water.  If I don't get a hit, I'll start bouncing the slack like a wacky rig...or you can rig it wacky, they work awesome that way as well.  The only thing I don't like about the nail weight is that you often lose the weight or the whole worm when a decent size fish is fighting and jumping.  I haven't perfected my nail burying technique quite yet.

This but weightless.

BTW, you´ll catch a lot more but a lot more fish on Dingers that you will ever catch on GYCB senkos simply because Dingers last a lot more fish per bait than senkos, you have no idea how many 1 bait per fish I´ve had when fishing GYCB Senkos or Kinami Flash.

The Yum Dinger was my favorite stick worm for years.

By the way, you might also give the 'Gambler Ace' a shot (senko impersonator)

Whether you T-rig or W-rig the stick worm, 'Unweighted' & 'Weedless' is the way to go.

Wacky rig or weightless Texas rig are the best options. If you use a weight make it a light one unless you fish really deep.  The Yum Dingers are a great alternative to the more expensive Senko's.
