What action do you guys like for the original Zara spook?

I have been using a moderate action but I find it awkward, what if I threw it on a MH Fast action? These baits cast a mile and I figure the fast action can help me get a good hook set at distance and the fast tip can help me work the bait better.

Do y'all think that would cause problems with landing fish? I use braid so I'm worried that the fast tip might make my system have little give and rip the hooks out of the bass.

I use a 6' 6" MH/F or a 6' 8" M/F with my spooks and both work really well. I prefer the medium but that's mainly because the rod is lighter and easier on my wrist. 

 

I wouldn't worry about pulling the hooks with braid, just keep your drag loose enough that they can pull some line if they dive at the boat. Don't swing for the fences when they bite, just wind into them (which is what I do anyways with copolymer and have no problems hooking up and I don't have to worry about dodging a Zara Missile). 

I use a mod fast rod for walking baits and love it, tips quick enough to work the bait easily yet soft enough to keep the fish hooked up once on

Using a pistol grip rod 5-6 to 6 feet long is a start.you get ur full spook action out of these.

I use a 6'10" Crucial MH-F. I don't like a soft tip for topwater baits. I feel like I have to work through the give of the rod in order to get the bait to work properly, whether its a spook, torpedo, or a popper. Get yourself something with a fast action. 

Ive used cigar baits with many actions from medium to very fast

I've been able to walk using them all with adjustment but I have to say medium is easier

Course this depends also on the weight of the cigar bait being used as well

yer not gonna use a medium for a punker

 

no problems with any of the actions due to the trebles.. not had any problems with hookups at all.

I use a 6'6" MH for the Sexy Dawg and Jr. versions with no issues.  Pair it up with a 7x:1 reel and some 15lb Mono and you are good to go.  

I like it on my 6'8" Medium Moderate action with 10 pound mono 7.41 gear ratio. I find it that the extra stretch gives more room for wider turns on the twitch.

Same here.  I simply adjust my retrieve as needed, and hence I don't really notice any instance being more easy or difficult than others....and of course, the fish have been fairly satisfied.
