I know many of us fishermen do things at the end of each season to prepare for the next so I thought i'd share some of the things I do with hopes of finding out what others do as well. Maybe we can pick up some habbits from eachother, so here's my list.

1. Remove line from all reels and give the reels a good cleaning and lubricating. After cleaning I spool my reels up with NEW (preferibly upgraded) line.

2. After cleaning and re-spooling reels, i clean my rods with soap and water. Get the cork and foam grips looking like new.

3. Go through my lures and replace any badly rusted or dull hooks.

4. Re-organize my tackle box.

5. Clean my tackle box (soap and water).

6. Buy new equipment for the upcoming season (lures, rods, reels, ect.)

7. print out maps of local fisheries (if available).

8. TRY NOT TO GO CRAZY!

not to just be a total d bag, but my "end of season"/winter list looks like this:

1. wake up a little later than usual and allow it to warm up as much as it's going to

2. fish (and i don't mean ice fish, i'm talking soft water)

3. get home before dark

4. watch UNC tarheels beat opponent

I wouldn't put on new line until the beginning of next season rather than the end of the current one.

Your brand new line is going to have 4 months of memory on it before your first cast.

Ice fish for pike, pickeral, and panfish. No bass through the ice. Why am I the only one ice fishing?

What is this "End of the season?" You mean when the calendar goes to the new year and I have to buy a new license so I don't get a ticket when I'm on the water on New Year's Day? That's always a good day to go, everyone else is at home hungover  :respect-059:

In my neck of the woods the fishing never stops.  I take care of my gear as needed.

You're not alone.  We just tend to keep a low profile-lest people think we're crazy.  Sometime I think I'm crazy.
