In spirit of the already cursive thread here's another lol. The owner of the company gave me a b day card over time I've figured out more and more of what it said. So far I got " thanks for all the help you are ????? At VPC. Next January you will be a one year ?veteran? And hopefully we will keep you with us for years to come" At first I was probably blinded by the 50 falling out of the card but it's taken me most the afternoon to figure out what it says

The v is poorly formed but the rest of it is there.  I will bet you the 50 if you ask whoever wrote it they will tell you that the word is providing.

You made a good point though. Much of reading cursive writing is done contextually, as we all write in our own style. 

His comment about being a one year veteran might be opening the door for a raise at the one year mark to assure you stay.

And as in the last cursive post, pure laziness. That is basically print without lifting the pen. My wife has the most legible cursive I've ever seen but she also writes to be legible to OTHERS. It's one thing to have your own style for your own notes and such, completely worthless if nobody else can read it.

Ahhhh my panties are in a bunch. This burns me up though. I work 2 jobs pay for everything in cash etc etc. why am I considered lazy because I write cursive? We're the founding fathers lazy? Maybe I dunno didn't know them. Maybe I should start writing in block letters like I was writing for a 3 year old. It really burns me up when people say cursive writers are lazy. Ok rant over.

When you are specifically writing to others, ie: prescription, card, notes on school papers, work lists and on and on do so in manner that is legible.

In your example, the boss just wasted half an hour or more in writing a cursive list, giving it to the employee, employee trying to make sense of it, him passing it to other employees to try to "problem solve" and then mustering up the courage to come back to the boss and say wth does this say!?!

As is yours. Cursive can be a beautiful writing, but more time than not it's used as a fast, hurry up and get through this script that often is half print,half cursive, all slop.

I hope not and didn't mean to derail the thread. Clayton it's nice your boss took the time to acknowledge your birthday with a note and a gift. It seems like he thinks you add value to the organization. Good job!!

Hope so I'm like their golden boy right now the machining guys are hating me but the sales guys and managers are loving it. I got a system I came up with cranking out two weeks worth of product in 1 week with out a problem and haven't had one part be bad. After being handed the card I was asked me hourly wage again and he said he was gonna fire out a email to get me more for all I'm doing. I'm gonna email the owner as well but thanking him for the card not asking for money let the managment do that in his email.
