The very best jigs IMO are pepper jigs from pepperjigs.com. I carry three colors: Pumpkin Green Flake (Green Pumpkin), Clear Lake Special (Brown Orange) and Black Blue. I use matching rage or paca chunks and they hammer the snot out of bass everywhere I've fished.

The importance of spelling, punctuation, complete sentences and paragraphs is overrated...   

 

Anyhow, I would suggest 3/8 oz. Siebert Outdoors Dredge Arky Jig. Black, black & blue and

PB&J. You can buy your trailers on the same order with Siebert: Rage Tail Craw black w/ blue

flakes and PB&J.

The limited purple/gold color was more effective than I thought it would be.

If you're on a budget, go to tackle warehouse and check out Living Image skirts that you can put on Boss jigheads.  This is a cheaper way to buy jigs and the living image skirts are awesome.  

 

As far as my favorite silicone skirts, I'd have to go with Dirty JIgs.  

For Living Rubber Jigs, I'd have to go with Skinny Bear

 

Another brand I've been wanting to try but have yet to get to is jigs from Greenfish Tackle.  

I would just start out with a few different brands and go from there. Play around with them and see which ones you like better.

Terminator jigs are your best bet for the money. You can get one for about 2.99 and they're better that others in that price range (aka Bass Pro and Strike King). For spinning gear, get two 3/8s of an ounce jigs, one an arkie head and one a football head, one in Green Pumpkin, and the other in Black/Blue. For casting, 1/2 or 3/4s oz. should do the trick. Again, one in arkie, the other in football,  GP and the other in B/B.

Production jigs with rubber band skirts?  No thank you.  Siebert Outdoors Supreme Series offers wire tied by hand jigs for less than the Terminator.  Northstar are just a couple quarters more.  For the record, I tried a TON of Terminator "football heads" and no other jig excelled at getting stuck in rocks and zebes.  I will say, the lighter green and browns are a dead ringer for a goby, with the weird eyes.

 

I don't mean to sound like I'm pimping (okay, I do, lol), but there's a lot of you guys out there tossing off the shelf jigs thinking a custom jig is too much $$$ - not true! Add in the fact that the skirts last at least 10x as long, being wire tied, and you'll see what I mean.

 

There's really only one production jig I'll throw anymore, and that's also wire tied.  That jig's days are numbered, though.

Nothing wrong with production rubber collars.    As long as you don't throw your jigs and spinnerbaits into laydowns....or grass....or rocks....or stumps....

Never mind water, or storing them in your tackle box, leaving them out in the air, or heaven forbid in a fish's mouth....  Nothing more maddening than a screwed up skirt or one that simply falls off because the rubber band is shot.

Yawn..stretch...last I checked, Normark charges more for a jig made on an assembly line in some other country.  Seibert and Northstar support these forums, offers a better, hand made to your spec product, not to satisfy stockholders, but because they like to share the success they've had with baits they've made.  I can assure, they're not getting rich....  Did I mention, THEY COST LESS, lol.  Seems like a no brainer, but you kids can go ahead and insult my opinion all you want.

Let me clarify. I didn't mean to be touchy or insult your opinion.

When I said "opinions are free," I was referring to my opinion, not yours. You weren't paying for or expecting anything from my opinion, so I stated it. I'm free to my own opinions, you're free to yours. I'm glad you like wired tied jigs so much. I checked out Siebert Outdoors. They impressed me and will be getting my business sometime in the future.
