I planned on sending it to DVT this week but I am going to hold off until after Christmas. In the meantime, I would like to know what the heck this noise is. The reel operates as it should other that this noise. If I didn't spin the handle fast I wouldn't even know that it has a problem because it is smooth and operates just fine.

 

The flux capacitor is probably on to tight...

It's the over flow dyna flow for sure.

Sounds like winter has set in, and we're playing with our reels.  Tighten the spool tension knob to, and see if it goes away.  If it does, it's the spool vibrating back and forth.

I made a new video with another Conquest 50. I did tighten the cast control knob and the noise did go away a lot but there is still internal noise that my other Conquest 50's do not have.

 

If this reel has one, the AR ratchet could be bent. (Remove it and toss it).

It may be the ratchet (#2404), though I doubt it is bent.  It's probably off the dog eared plate.  Tossing is probably not the best advice.  Unless of course, you don't care about having a fail safe anti reverse, or the reel's value.  I know if I bought a reel missing parts, I'd expect a discount.  If you don't want to use it, it can be removed without harm, and stored.  Some feel it's not necessary (myself included, a little bit, though I leave mine in), and takes away from smoothness (this part I can't tell on any of my reels that have it).

I'll send it to Mike. BTW, this reel was bought new so I can't imagine that Shimano made it without all the parts. 

My best guess would be the redundant AR as well. Still hard to say without seeing it though. I'll be surprised if it's anything big.

I do think,however, that they don't make that noise if they have line on the spool, are mounted on a rod, and have a fish on the end of the line...
