G.loomis Glx Rods Opinions

Featured Replies

Hello to all and Merry Christmas, I'm looking for opinions on the GLX line worming and crankbait rods... Thanks

I have several of the GLX rods, but none are the crank bait rods. Which specific models are you looking at?

I have the MBR 783 and it is amazing.  It is the most versatile rods I own.

I have fished one the GLX crankbait rods and found it almost too sensitive for crankbaits.  It was nice but was just different from what I was use to in a crankbait rod.

I also have the 803 GLX Jig and Worm rod, also amazing.

If it fits the application you are trying to use it for, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the GLX rods.

Sorry can't help either on the CBR rods.  If you have any questions on the JWRs let me know.

haven't used the 785 but i have the 843.  it is a wonderful rod for wiggle warts, bomber 5/6A's and smaller fat free shads.  the 855 is the best rod ive ever used for rattle traps. as far as the JWR series, they are all great. just get the one rated for your needs. you wont be disappointed.

I own the 805c JWR and wanted to add a crank bait rod ,I thought about another JWR either the 803 or 804   or the 785 CBR   ?

MBR844C  Jigs & weighted soft plastics

MBR842C  Swim jigs & small swimbaits (Maybe my favorite)

PR844C     Topwater

BCR 844    Primary jig rig

Not sure what weights you will be throwing but do not overlook the 783 as it will handle 3/4 oz crank baits with ease. Having both the 783 & 785 you will find them both to be very light and responsive sticks . No problems casting both of these little gems once you get accustomed to how light they are with get accuracy. Now keep in mind I am comparing them to the standard Crank Bait series from Loomis as I hope this helps you and suggest you take a hard look at the 783 first if it fits your lure weight usage.

I bought a GLX and an IMX both in the flea market on this site for great deals. I still own the IMX but not the GLX. There wasnt much of a difference sensitivity wise between them with braided line but I prefer the IMX because it feels more crisp and "alive" in my hands.

Are we talking about the GLX 783 ?

I thought you were asking about the GLX Crank Bait Rods but maybe I am wrong....My post was about a GLX 783 CBR and GLX 785 CBR this also being the split grip rods as well.
