When it comes to wobble heads what's your favorite ways to go about it? Weights, color of the jigs, trailers, line, anything and everything. Just got mine from bluebasser86 and I'm really excited about using them this spring so I'm wanting to get some insight.

I like Sweet Beavers, Rage Craws, and Lunker Grubs on a 1/2oz or 3/4oz head depending where I'm fishing them. I almost always throw them on 15lb Big Game line and there are 2 rock flats that I fish these on all the time, one is 4' that has a mild slope that ends up going to 6' and that is where I use the 1/2oz head and the other flat is in 7' that has a sharp drop off into another flat which is 9.5' and for those I use the 3/4oz head.

I like the Mustad fast-tach heads,that way I can use the hook of my choice, and change it if I need/want to. I prefer to keep that rig in contact with the bottom at all times, so I use nothing lighter than 1/2oz.and often use 3/4 or 1oz. Havoc pit bosses,and devil spears are my favorite baits,both in the "regular" and small sizes.

I've used whatever brand of actual jig head or wobble head.  But my favorite plastic to put on them is the rage menace.  Awesome bait.  

The Scrounger and Super Fluke Combo has accounted for several quality fish for me & these other two guys.

Head size: Match the size of head to the depth of water you are fishing. Shallower water-lighter head, deeper water-heavier head.

 

Head color: Match to the color of the bait. Not really a key factor in catching fish.

 

Trailers: Beavers are a great bait to use on wobble head jigs. Rage bugs, Pit Bosses, and Ugly Otters all works well. Paddle tail swimbaits like Grass Pigs and Swing Impacts are also great. Craws like Chiggers and Rage Craws work exceptionally well when dragged along the bottom. Experiment with different baits. Ribbontails, Senkos and grubs can all work well.

 

Rod: 6'8''-7'6'' M/XF or MH/XF casting rod. The extra fast action is perfect for getting good hooksets, especially with big, heavy wire hooks. My favorite is a 7'2'' MH/XF.

 

Reel: Just about any baitcast reel you have will work fine. 6 to 8 gear with a good drag. I use a 7 gear Shimano.

 

Line: 20-40lb braid or 10-17lb flourocarbon or copolymer line will work well. In clear water scenarios, use a fluorocarbon leader with the braid. I prefer Sufix 832 or Power Pro braid in 20 or 30lb test with a 12 or 15lb leader.

 

Retrieve: Try experimenting with different retrieves. Fast, slow, start/stop, drag, swim and hopping retrieves all work.
