My first baitcasters were bps pro qualifiers and lews speed spool variants.  Then I started to develop a taste for daiwa and shimano stuff.  I've since sold all of my bps and lews.  My arsenal consists of some of the discontinued classics.  IMO if I have $200 for a reel I'm looking for a liberto pixy or a tdz-r+ or something along those lines over a brand new reel.  How about you guys?

I buy whichever seems interesting at the time - sometimes that means the latest & greatest...sometimes that means a blast from the past on a reel that I didn't get on the first go-around.

If I had $200 for a new reel I would look at the new Curado, or a Chronarch.  In the daiwa line up, I'd get another Zillion.

 

Sometimes combining the old with the new is OK too.

The shimano chronarch is a really good reel. I think both older and newer models are good.

X2.  Only new reels I have are Tatula and T3 1016 reels because I liked what I read about them.  Although I like them a lot, I also like my TD-Zs and Alphas' reels a lot.  Wouldn't consider getting rid of any of them.  I will say that I wish I could afford to try a few more new models from Shimano, Pinnacle and Okuma.

Are you using those as Crankin combos?

I prefer the look of round reels.

I think my next reel purchase is going to be a Calcutta or a Conquest.   It seems like the new smaller sizes would be much easier to palm and they look awesome.  I gots to get me one.

Nice, very nice. I've really considered doing this exact thing only my C4 is blue so I was going to go with a blue Garcia rod.
