Does anyone have a Jon boat with a casting deck built wanting to look at some pics...I want to put a REMOVABLE one on mine but need some ideas

Have you looked on tinboats.net? Lots of builds on there. I decked out a 12' Alumacraft and its all 100% removable.

What are you wanting to build it out of? Wood is probably you're cheapest option but also adds a lot of weight. Getting something machined out of aluminum would be nice and light but also very expensive. 

FYI: go to your local DOT, you can sometimes pick up old road signs cheat!

That's what mine is made out of. It adds a ton of weight but is way cheaper than aluminum. It's not like I'm going to be racing anyone across the lake with my 15hp motor anyways 

Make sure not to use pressure treated wood! It has copper in it....copper and aluminum are not good friends. You'll have to waterproof the wood yourself. An extra step, but worth it.

My father in law is letting me "have" his duck boat. Its a 14' alumacraft and I will be building a deck out of synthetic bowling lane panels. Its already waterproof and strong. I'm just going to build a 2x4 frame for in between the seats. I haven't figured out how to strap it down yet but that will be easy.

they do the job, but are flimsy. No leaning back. I just bolted mine to the seat itself. I added a swivel, and ran bolts through the seat and cranked her down.

I bought a set for my johnboat. Clamped them on, tried to lean back to test them out and fell over backwards into the boat, couldn't take them back fast enough. 

yeah i believe im going to go a different route. Thinking im going to just bolt the swivel base to bench just have to figure out how to bolt base to bench in such a small space like 1'' space
