Strike King Jointed Structure Jig

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried these? Pros/cons.....

I ordered a few and haven't used them yet. However, I was disappointed right away upon opening the package. The paint job is sloppy and the hook is dull. I do like the look of the head and the concept behind it, but the craftsmanship of Strike King products is getting weak. Hopefully I'll be happy fishing it.....

Have you tried the Biffle Hard head before? I've never used a swinging head jig, so I'd be interested to hear what you think of after you fish with it.

I use swinging football jigs all the time during the summer on ledges. I love them and they are one of my main ways to catch fish along with a carolina rig, jig, and dd crankbait. I never buy any kind of jig heads that are mass produced like biffle hard heads, strike king structure jigs, etc. I'm sure you have a hometown tackle shop that makes them and will be a lot better quality than what you order from larger companies. At least in my experience it is. Would also be cheaper too. I can buy 5 swinging football jigs for $3.99 in any size I want where the biffle hard heads are 2 for like $8.

Custom's the way to go. $10 for 10 Wobble heads, any color, choice of weight and hook size. Check e-bay, there are several vendors that can hook you up. Brian.

The swinging football head has become one of my favorite ways to present a soft plastic.

Mine too, but I am really a fan of the Mustad Fast-tach system. The hook/weight combos you can make yourself to suit your needs are almost endless. I know, unless I HAVE TO, that I will not use a head with a fixed hook again.

I can't seem to find those anywhere....that's what I would like to try.

TW has them.

I actually put my own together. I buy the Arlie brand heads that have the goofy hook from Walmart. Take the hook off and attach 2 quality split rings and the appropriate Trokar hook I am needing. This also give me the option to easily and quickly change hooks with a pair of split ring players.

Me and the old man have been pouring them from our melting pot for years. Beats paying outrageous prices for them.

For years? I was under the impression that they've only been around for 4 or 5 years and really launched when Biffle won on Ft. Gibson with them? If that's the case, you guys missed the boat on an early retirement!

These things have intrigued me lately.  Do you guys fish them like shakey-heads/t-rig plastics, or do you chuck & wind?

I drag mine 90% of the time, the rest I am reeling it as fast as I can while still maintaining bottom contact.
