Deep Dive Cranks

Featured Replies

Here is something you won't find at BPS.  The top bait is cedar and will hit 24+ casting.  the bottom two baits are balsa and are 16+.  I like to refer to these as subs.

Those things are beautiful!!!! 24+!?! Dang thats awesome!!

love the bottom baits color

Awesome stuff as usual - - I can attest to the sub's ability to dive.....they are some diggin' machines.

What does that top one weigh? Most of the places I fish are not even that deep.

Nice work Marty....again!

top bait weighs .925oz, middle is 1.25oz, bottom bait is .875oz

These baits are not for the faint of heart or weak wrist and forearms:)

Wow nice looking crankbaits !

I especially love the top one !

I notice that you make good use of the wire board for your lips .... Is it really stronger than normal lexan, even with such long diving lips ?

Congrats on the painting too.... the bottom one looks the best as far as colors go !

Great looking baits Big M.

How in the world does that first bait's lip not break off when crankin?  LOL

circut board is not really stronger than polycarbonate, but it is half the thickness and that will give a you an extra foot of depth out of the same length lip.    You can thin the front of a lexan lip to ultra thin but that is a lot of sanding with 800 grit sand paper.

The only draw back with circut board is a lot of hard cranking in rocks, it will slowly chip.   I've got some baits I been banging rocks with for over 3yrs and and lips are chipped a little but nothing that hinders the action.

Those look great Marty. Ireally like the way the paint scheme flows on the the 24 footer. I know a few places to throw one like that.   ;)   What pound test are you using when you test dive the cranks?

20/6 power pro or 14/4 stren super braid and the bait is 3 3/8 inches long.
