Watched the episode last night with the Janice Joplin brick.  I didn't catch the segment from the beginning, but right towards the end as Rick is walking away you can see yours truly in the background.     My wife and I were in the area, someone mentioned we should stop by and take a look as they sometimes have some nice old pawn jewelry, next thing you know we were asked to stay for the filming of an episode. 

Was the place cool? Did you buy anything?

The place is tiny.  Most of what they have I wouldn't consider.  LOTS of souvenir tshirts/sweatshrits/hats and the like.  The one item they had that I would have considered was not for sale.  Part of the Old Man's personal collection.

They literally stopped Rick every other sentence and told him, verbatim, what to say.  A young lady there.  It was literally her only job. 

Heard it was more of a souvenir shop now, and patrons were mostly cattled in for them.

I do find the history of some of the items to be very interesting.   The show would probably be a flop without any scripting, pawn shops aren't really too exciting.  I love the way Rick always has friend that's an expert.  I'll keep an eye out for Redline.

I watch it on a regular basis. Chumlee is an idiot and "Big Hoss" is one miserable person. It is funny you say the place is more souveniers and not much for sale worth buying. The wife and I stopped at the American Pickers place in Iowa a couple of years ago and it was full of crap I couldn't see anyone buying and the stuff that was good was not for sale. None of the TV folks were there either. They had some girls working in there that are never on the show.

Yeah, it does kind of wreck the show when you know none of it is real. I do find it interesting to see the items that are shown and I do like it better than the other pawn shop show, Hard Core Pawn.

All those kinda shows are scripted I think.....but that's ok......so is everything else I watch.

I wish I could have my life scripted.......it would work a lot better than it does now.

I watch Hard Core Pawn once in a while as I'm from Detroit.  I lived not far from the location, when I lived I think it was a bowling alley called North Lanes, 8 mile rd and Greenfield.

Can't swear to this, Les is around my age and looks real familiar.  I may have gone to school with him, but I don't remember being friendly with him.
