Single Willow Leaf

Featured Replies

In a post not too long ago, folks were talking about a single willow leaf and how it would helicopter down. Got to thinking about it and realized the only single I've ever used was a large Colorado for the thump in low light conditions.

Went looking in the Bass Pro book, unless I missed it, I didn't see any. Wondering why they don't sell any (sounds like quite a few folks like them). Where do ya'll get them or do you Frankenstien you're own together?

I fish the 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade. I don't recall exactly who I bought them from, but it was an internet retailer. They can be found on a number of sites.

There's a guy in Georgia that makes a spinnerbait w/ a single willowleaf for fishing for suspended bass in standing timber. I dont think there bait co. has a website yet, but google...A train blade, train spinnerbait, similar. That lake is an hour and a half east and like night and day to my home lakes. So I built a few myself similar to what they use over there when the fish suspend in the trees.

I Frankenstien every spinnerbait I buy....

Or I just let this fellow cajun do it for me

You'll like what you see there. Check it out.

He doesn't have a single willow but he does have the single indiana. That will get you similar results.

Thanks a bunch 'Aint Texan', now that's my idea of an innovative company!

You can bet that I bookmarked that website.

Man, you don 't need to go purchasing manufacturer made single balde spinnerbaits, you make them if you can 't find them, get the components from Stamina and assemble your own, there 's a big bunch of blade shapes & finishes from where to choose.

I have the same trouble finding single willow spinnerbaits, so I buy tandems, and cut off the small blade. No problems.

Cheers,

Making a single bladed spinnerbait (or multi-blade for that matter) from components isn't difficult at all - - and if you just get a good selection of components together in a little box you can just make what you need on-the-fly.

One of my best prespawn baits is a 3/4oz single bladed Indiana style. I like to throw it just above the drop offs, let it helicoper down in 2-4 feet of water. I like to let it set a second or so then rip it up off the bottom and slow roll it down over the drop and back to the boat. Its been a good trigger for the bass on the edges. Simply, it has worked a lot for me. I get my spinnerbait body's  and blades from Stamina. My best color has been a gold blade with a blue glimmer skirt. Kind of a darker blue on top of the skirt that fades to white. It also has blue flecks in the strands. Its not only a good prespawn bait but, a good summer bait as well for the outside edges of the deeper grass, say around 6-8 feet. :)

Thanks for the input guys. The sites were great. I went to an old tackle box that I keep for older, worn-out or things I don't use enough and put several baits together (had to buy skirts and a couple of blades). Would sure help the old self-esteem if they worked :)...
