Off To Japan

Featured Replies

I'm headed out to Tokyo, Japan in march anyone know any decent fishing spot's?

I'm jealous.

Not for the fishing spots, but the JDM shopping

spots, LOL.

Get to Lake Biwa if you can. There's a lunker just

waiting for you!

I will definitely have to look through tackle shops maybe bring back a reel or some tackle 10 days is plenty of time I'm thinking about bringing my cheap 2 piece daiwa samurai combo to fish.

If at all possible, bring a local with you before buying anything. They will be able to discuss pricing for you, otherwise you will pay PREMIUM prices because they know where you are coming from and how big JDM is in the US.

This is not true. Japanese retailers value honesty, fairness, and customer satisfaction above pretty much everything else, so very very unlikely that they risk their reputation to make few bucks by ripping someone off.

I lived in Okinawa for a couple years, and anything near a military base was pricey. The good thing is you can negotiate prices, and I will have a local with me.

You are absolutely correct, very honest and fair, but they also have a very high pride level as well and most time won't advertise if they have previously used item for sale not on display. A lot of time a local can ask the right questions.

I'm off in the morning ill report back in a couple of weeks

I wish I could tell you, but when I was there I wasn't very interested in fishing as much as I am now. Also, I remember it being very expensive to purchase things there. I was stationed in Korea and it was only a 45 minute flight. Very nice and clean. I'm guessing you were in the Marines?

I can't go to Japan.  If I did I'd end up with a plane full of JDM rods and reels and quite possibly one extremely upset wife.

Yes, I was in the Marines. I'm back and I will post up a few pictures this week of some JDM gear.

  • Super User

LOL, if you go back, give me a yell.

I "need" some stuff.

This was the first shop I stumbled on in Yokosuka it was a small mom and pops shop, not a whole lot here, but they did have a whole wall of rods which were all 2 piece.

The second place I went to was a Tackle Berry which is a second hand fishing shop this one was located in Yokohama they had some GYBC senko's and some rebel cranks along with some jackall and other common japanese lure companys. The majority of their fishing gear was for salt water. I found a few decent rods including the picture of the Megabass rod.
