Ok so im starting to get into fishing soft swimbaits going to ease up to Bass Pro Monday so im thinking about going with Yum money minnow so should i go with the 3.5" or the 5"

Unless you're wanting to fish a very finesse A-rig or a very light single jighead, I'd go with the 5".

I tried to use the small ones a while back but went right back to the larger size.

They have thier place tho.

I started off with the 3.5 inch and regretted it. One lb drinks will slam the 5" so don't worry about limiting your catch, even though you targeting bigger fish most likely. 

whats the down fall of the 3.5" one?

I have fished both...had more luck with the smaller ones where I fish...ymmv. Great baits, but expensive...Been using some less expensive baits and had same results....good.

The caffine swim'n shad goes into this category right? Because I have had great success with those as well. 

The smaller money minnow is money and on a chatterbait with skirt removed...

I'd go with the 5". They are still small enough that they aren't going to chase away very many small bass, and they still give you a better chance at catching a bigger one. 

 

This bass was only about 12" but he had no problem choking a 5 1/2"

Just a tip with the money minnow peel the clear coat layer off of the bait and it will have an even more lively action

Went with the 4.5" shadilicious and picked up some havoc grass pigs....also got some weighted hooks and jig heads try both out

Try out gambler big eazy and the eazy swimmer really awesome baits. Durable for multiple fish. Caught a 30 lb bag down here on Florida on them copper field is my favorite. They work great up north smallies love em to. Weighted swim bait hook or a swim jig with 4/0 and or 5/0 hook

3.5 for a trailer on a Chatter Bait or spinner bait 5 by its self
