I am new to spinning reels and just purchased the diawa exceler I am wonder what line should I string it with.  I'm going to be using it mainly for senkos its on a 7 foot medium carrot stix.  lease give me pinions

Braid with a leader. Braid reduces line twists; therefore, its easier to manage. Also, it is very sensitive and easy to set the hook from long distances due to no stretch. I like a fluoro leader for added sensitivity compared to mono and abrasion resistance. I'd choose 20-30# braid with 10-12# fluoro as a leader if you just fish around moderate cover.

10-15 pound fins wind tamer braid is amazing stuff. It's a lil stiff but it's very forgiving g for braid and manages wind so well

I use #15 power pro braid with a #6-10 fluoro leader. Cover dictates what size leader.

Braid all the way.  Especially on the Carrot Stix.  The sensitivity is crazy.

High vis yellow braid, 15 lb with a flourocarbon leader(10 to 15 lb).

Run straight braid the floro leader defeats purpose unless your in crystal clear water with small bass

Straight braid 8-15lb your choice

Another vote for braid + leader. 

 

For me, all my spinning gear has 10 pound

yellow Power Pro + varying size leaders.

 

Never a problem in thick slop, either. 10# 

is thin, but much stronger than rated by 

my reckoning.

 

Just find braid to be so much easier to manage

than nylon or fluoro lines.

Well, "defeats purpose" is sort of an opinion as 

opposed to absolute

 

Not all of us use a leader for visibility purposes.

8-10 lb braid. Use a leader if you want to, I don't.

6lb Maxima mono. I hate braid.

What reel? US reel use to come with a similar device to anchor braid/ reduce spool capacity. I can only assume that may well be what you are referring to..

I like tufline supercast. It works perfect for spinning reels. it is a coated braid.super smooth It casts a mile.

Reason i say defeats the purpose is braid is more managable and everyone knows having a extra knot is just one more thing that can go wrong nothing about opinions its a fact

Braid to fluorocarbon is the best. I have tried power pro, izorline, sufix, and a couple others. I picked up some stren sonic braid about 2 months ago because it was on sale and so far it has been great, probably my favorite. Doesn't twist on my spinning gear and the color has been holding up very well. You need to either use a backing of mono or fluorocarbon or ring that came with the reel. If not the braid can, and probably will, start sliding around on the reel when you are reeling something in. I use an improved albright knot for the braid to fluorocarbon and it has never let me down. Hope this helps.

Reiterate what everyone said above. I use 12 lb power pro slick 8 with a 12 lb fluorocarbon leader (approx. 4 ft). When spooling up use line conditioner and fill the spool to almost full. This set-up will greatly increase your casting difference and is extremely sensitive- you will feel the fish breathing on the line. Plus it is durable, so you need not re-spool each reel every year. I usually put 200 yards on and get 3-4 years out of it. Every year i cut off the last 30 yards or so until lI get to the fresh line.

Well Maxx, our opinion may not agree with your fact. Your fact, is the opinion you wish all of us would agree with. See how easy each of us can come up with an idea without your input. Braid/leader is the way I wish to fish and your input isn't going to change that fact. Fact is, I really don't give a hoot owl about what you think.  InFACT, most of us here will do it our way in spite of facts that you opine.

Depending on the amount of cover in your lake, you may want to consider Berkley Nanofil.  It is a no memory, low stretch super line that just comes off of spinning reels smoother than any other line I have used.  If you are fishing around a lot of wood or other abrasive cover, it may not be the right choice, but in areas with less potential for line damage, I swear by it.

 

I use 10 lb. & 12 lb. with matching test fluorocarbon leaders, have landed bass up to 8 lbs. and catfish (who grabbed my Roboworms or senko's) up to 15 lbs on it.

For senkos it's braid with a fluoro leader without a doubt. I like 10lb test/2lb diameter Power Pro Super Slick for that duty.

I agree about braid and leader for spinning gear.  At present I'm using 10# PP slick, 10# US braid, 15# Fins wind tamer and 15# original PP.  Not a recommendation or endorsement, my everyday line is US braid and fish inline spinners most of the time with it.  It's the only line I've not had a wind tangle or knot, the line has performed beautifully.  I put some 20# on one of my barracuda rigs and so far it's been quite good.  

I use a 20# PP with a 12# leader on my only spinning outfit when I'm in fairly open, shallow water.
