My Feeling About Buzzbaits

Featured Replies

I feel like a traditional topwater like a PopR is in the strike zone too long. I think the fish have to decide whether to bite it or not. With a buzzbait, I think its an instant reaction bite. They don't have time to sit there and think because that baitfish is getting away. Anyone else feel this way about Buzzbaits?

It's all relative, my friend. Many times the slower presentation is more productive. Versitility is a major component in fishing success.

You're correct, but some days, the fish want a bait that sits in the strike zone and teases them as well.

Inactive fish eat inactive baits

Active fish eat active baits

It's your job to determine which it is for the day. I'll just say poppers can and are worked quickly on surface.

Fish follow buzzbaits for long periods of time .. Deciding... As well

No.

All a buzzbaits is, is a problem solver. It is a bait that makes noise, splashes water, runs on the surface without catching weeds, and covers water by moving quickly.

Anything else, is just an assumption about what goes through a fish's mind. I don't pretend to know this nor am I even sure they have a "mind" in the psychological sense.

Oh yeah, some days a buzzbait is hard to beat. Getting bit on them is s real treat, and bonus: they're easy to fish. Done days, a popper gets bit better. Other days, there's no topwater bite.

Every fish-every  component - every condition-every variable is different.  It all depends on the mood of the fish. They will tell you what they want -how they want it and when they want it --Hmm kinda like women. We might be on to something here -Ok forget that I'd rather be fishing --So with that said every cast can be the one that gets the strike. Its your job to figure them out and find out how to make them respond or react to that bait/presentation. Whoever figures it out best-WINS

Just remember NO one but No one throws the buzzbait more than I -It is my #1 bait  But again adapt or skunk

I will fish a pop r bait over a buzz bait, 10 times out of ten... That is how I feel.. Lol.. I also believe bass ALWAYS makes a decision to eat a bait or not, contrary to what some believe..I might be wrong, but I can live with it..

J Francho & Bobby nailed it ;)

I never fish just a popper. Always a buzz, buzzing frog (horny toad or rage toad), or a walking bait.

with a lot of Buzzbaits you can keep them in the strike zone long enough to entice a bite but still force them to react.
