well theres no certain brand i can pick for you its up to you for what rod and reel you like, but for the size rod ill use a 7-7'6 heavy or Mh with 50lb braid and the reel anything above 7.0 to 1 and the the of frog ill use is usually spro and colors just depend on how i feel but remember the fish only see the belly of the frog so ill always carry a white, black, and a bluegill color with me. but ill use a Mh for fishing in open water and the heavy for pads and lay downs

Brand is subjective. If you are fishing some really thick stuff I'd get a heavy action rod in the 7' to 7'6" range. I fish laydowns and scattered grass with a 7'MH fast action rod.

Steez xbd frog rod with a zillion pe special 65 lb suffix performance braid and spro poopping frogs. I like a white brown and black frog in my box.

Being a spinning man I'm using what I always use when fishing high banked canals, 15# braid and 7' medium rod.  I would use a heavier rod if my lures were heavier.

Pretty common vegetation for me.

I guess if you want to use light baits in thick cover you have no choice but a medium powered rod. I'd still be scared of breaking at the knot with 15 # braid pulling them out the way you do when I catch a big one.

You just hit on the key difference, I'm not scared.  Big or small it's only fish, the landing so often is anti- climatic, for me the thrill is the only thing that counts.  A knot should be the last of your concerns, big fish are lost because people get intimidated so much they horse a fish in, putting it on a scale or taking pic seems to over ride enjoying the moment.  I don't care if lose a fish and don't even give it a second thought, no one lands them all.

What Snook is failing to tell you is that he is using a medium powered inshore rod that probably has a line rating up to 25# and a lure rating of an ounce or more. That medium powered inshore rod has a lot more backbone than any medium powered bass rod could ever dream of having.

Going back to the OP's question. First off, welcome to BR. One thing you must quickly learn here is to be extremely specific with a question. Whenever you ask what is the best rod and/or reel you are opening up pandora's box. LOL... We know you are looking for a frog outfit. What is your budget? Some of the outfits that were just listed as an example are more than a few $$ hundred dollars. 

 

Here are some tips for you. There are several good named brands reels and rods. What fishing retailers are close to you? Go to these places and go get a feel of these rods and reels. Once you have, go on-line or take advantage of our site sponsors and see if they can get you the same outfit for a lot less.  Rods, you will be looking at a minimum of 7ft and the power rating should be a MH to H. Reels: high IPT (inches per turn) and ratio. 7.1:1. Line. Braid reigns supreme in frogging applications. 40lb or more will suit you just fine.

7' med 8/17 line, 3/8-3/4 lure, just like most other medium rods.  I have 2 of them one is a calico jack the other a hurricane redbone, the CJ has a little softer tip. 

As the rod is kept perfectly straight and doesn't flex, it's the knot that holds the fish not the rod, I fish with m/l and can do the same thing.

I was being facetious when I made that reply. Depending on what X7 rod you choose it could be a pretty versatile combo though.

I use a 7 ft med heavy and sometimes a 7 ft heavy action rod and a high speed retrieve reel, something in the realm of 28 inches per turn. 45 lb braid is about right for where I fish maybe 60 in real thick cover. Hope that helps. As for brands, to each their own. My current setups are bps carbonlites and curados. They work well for me.
