When buying a new bait, I have been advised to always buy 2 or more of the same one. Maybe one of the 2 crankbaits doesn't run true, maybe your new bait is a hot item and a pike takes off with it, or you sail it down the lake on a line-snapping cast. I've sometimes bought 3 or 4 of the same exact bait. Do you buy multiples from the get-go, or do you try 1 then go back for more later?

I always get multiples of everything. Who knows why you'll lose something, but you will. I've lost my favorite spin bait 3 or 4 times, always with an exact backup in the box so I can keep giving the fish what they want.

This last year I stared fishing a new to me color in the Netbait Cmac 11", called sun perch. I had fished that color in other Netbait plastics, but that was the first I had seen it in the Cmac. Long story short, only bought one bag, caught a lot of fish and went through that bag in less than a month. Went back to the same shop and there wasn't a single bag left. Since then I figured out that's not common color in that worm and a member of the site just recent pointed me in a website that carries them.

 

When I buy a bait/lure that work I quickly by enough to last the season. Sometimes I get stuck with some extras, but it better to have and not need than need and not have in my opinion. 

Depends on the bait. Baits like spooks or jerkbaits (especially vision 110's) I just buy one or maybe two. I can make spinnerbaits last a long time as well. I'll usually buy more than one of the same color crankbait, and I make my own jigs so I don't worry about that as much.

For hard baits no. When buying a new lure I like to buy 2-3 different color patterns and yes it usually means one is a dud but what if the magic one was the one i didnt buy?  usually when I buy something I like to test it asap and if it works I will buy more. for me that bait is the KVD magnum dreamshot. its listed on the TW site as a dropshot bait but I have gone through 3 bags in the 3 months of fishing i did last year and there are 4 more where that came from.

I try to always buy multiples of a new bait I'm trying, if it comes in various sizes I look to which size will best fit my fishing and I'll often buy 2 of each size I need. I will get basic color patterns to start and if the bait is successful then I'll go buy a few more , at least one more with the same color and size that did well along with a few other patterns. When it comes to being successful, I'll buy multiples of the size and color that did well like I said before, but with other patterns I'll start with one and as I use them I'll continue to add.  If I can't afford to buy 3 baits, then I don't buy any until I have enough for that.

I buy one, and then if I like it I go back and buy more.

If it's a new bait to me I will buy a small quantity until it proves itself . If I like it then I stock up on multiples of key colors . Probably the one lure class I don't usually do that with is topwaters because I rarely lose them . 

Hard baits, no. When I buy a new crank bait, I prefer to buy two different colors instead of two of the same if I have the money. I'd rather have a good variety of colors and sizes. Plastics is a different story, I stock up on my go-to plastics.

Haha same here! Bait monkey gets revenge in the end. Oh well at least at that point we know they work!

Due to being bitten badly by the bait monkey this would be impossible. I have numerous bags of my go to baits. Partially because I always grab these go to baits overtime I am in BassPro, Dicks, etc and because I am somewhat fearful that the color/bait may be discontinued. Maybe next time my girlfriend tells me I have too much bait in my the carriage at BPS I can tell her their are people like you that buy multiples of every bait!
