Diawa Tatula

Featured Replies

So I threw a 1/4th ounce lipless crankbait and was astonished at how far it flew. Just saying it pretty much made my day. In comparison to a bass pro qualifier, tatula any day of the week.

Just my two cents.

The Tatula is a nice little reel at the discount prices you can find. I have one myself. That said, the rod is what casts the weight. I'd attribute the bulk of the performance to any difference there and in line choice with reel a distant third.

I agree. I have a Lews TP and had a Tatula. I used both on the same rod(Tatula 6'10" MH) withe the same line. If there was a difference in casting, I could not tell.

almost sold my tatula after i initially had it on my rod and palmed it for the first time but glad i kept it. ive gotten used to the size. as of now its my only daiwa but i wouldnt hesitate to pick up another.

I bought one last summer.  After using it for a week or so, I bought another one.  I got them for less than a hundred bucks each, and I think they are an absolute steal at that price.  What a great, solid, smooth reel!

Tight lines,

Bob

Casting distsnce, smoothness of retrieve, and the ease of brake adjustments make this reel a no brainer for the price. Only downside is weight and size if that matters.

yeah, I am finding them for relatively cheap online, but cant get over the weight.  I am very curious about them though, I would love to fish with one to seem if they live up to the hype for me.

Love all five of mine. :)

ive been considering on for a while the one that rippin lips is selling on the flea market right now is pretty tempting..

I don't know they really cast much farther then other reels. I do think though the breaking system is more forgiving and smoother. It's the best system out imo. Not to mention they are super smooth and seem to hold up great. I have beat the crap out of a few and they are doing better then there lews counterparts although both are solid reels.

Buy it! It's a good deal, and it's pretty haha

Plus I need to buy a rod for my SS SV that'll be here tomorrow.

You are 2 up on me, but I didn't buy my first one until the end of last season.

OP, no idea how light a weight the Tatula will handle, but venture to guess you are getting near its limit.  Doubt I will be finding out as I already have more than enough that handle the light end (1/4 oz. and below).  Going to take at least one Tat with me to Florida in a couple weeks.  Give it a bit of a work out.  :teeth:

I bought one and used it on one trip.  I bought another one that night when I got home.  I love both of mine and haven't had any trouble with either of them.

I have a Type-R and it's a Sweet little reel .

Love mine, and the looks alone make it worth the extra $30 or so over the standard model for me, plus I am liking the 8.1:1 ratio.
