What'd You Go To School For? What Are You Doing Now?

Featured Replies

Got a B.S. in Business Administration, major of Marketing with an emphasis in advertising.  Got an internship with an ad agency while I started my Masters, realized in a few short weeks how much I disliked the type of people who were working around me.  Stopped the Masters, got a job in management in the new home construction industry.  Stayed there for 12 years until I left to start my own company.  Been running that for the past 18 years.

I have a degree in management information systems and a minor in finance. I have been in the consumer finance business for 25 years lending and collecting

Graduated with a BS in business management. Now I work as a project engineer. I probably didn't need the degree to do what I am doing, but I know I am making a little more $$$ because of it.

I went to school with the intention of being an attorney, I opted not to attend law school, worst mistake of my life.   Did real estate for about 5 years, held my own but never really enjoyed it.  I listed a home owned by a scrap metal dealer, we became very close friends and he influenced me to got to work for him, best decision I ever made.  Worked for him 2 years then started my own operation that spanned 30 years, been retired 12 years.  As much as I loved my business looking back wish I had gone to law school.

Never cared much for school till I got "older". Started working after the USMC as a car mechanic because I loved working and toying with cars. 10 years later after moving to Fla. the opportunity presented itself to attend fire school. Fell in love with it. At 31 got hired and then continued my education getting my degree in Fire Science Emergency Meducal Technician and advanced courses at the Nationl Fire Academy in Maryland. 25 years later after a rewarding career I retired as the Fire Chief. I would have never thought my life would have taken such as course. Now reaping the rewards of all that hard work!

I hated school when i was younger...joined the Navy and spend 12 years as an intelligence specialist. Got out and did the same thing on the fed side and made 3x the money. I ended up getting burned out shortly therafter.

Started Nursing school 5 years ago and ill be graduating in 17 days...cant wait!

Went for welding. Graduated top of my class with several over the road offers. Had an angel on the way and stayed home to be the best father/ husband I could be. I'm in the management level of commercial and facility maintenance now. Get to tuck in 2 angels and sleep beside my best friend every night now.

My degree is in Criminal Justice but wound up going in a different direction after graduation. Earned a handful of inspection certs and I'm currently working as QC Inspector for a nuclear fabrication facility. The pay is better than LE, and nobody shoots at me...yet.

I went to school to keep my parents from being arrested.

Had to fight my way to and from school every day.

(It was a different place and time)

Married out of HS to get out, but had to work 2 and sometimes 3 jobs to keep our head above water.

No formal secondary education, but if you count fighting everyday to raise a family and provide for them then yes, I learned the hard way and am much better for it. There's no degree for that.
